3 in 1 Solution - Smaller Footprint
---SETUP--- The setup for this device is unique in that it requires an app to be downloaded to you phone called Dario. This turns your phone into a Glucose Meter reader. What you get in the box is a lightning connector for iphones where you will insert the glucose strips. After reading the manual, I was ready for my first test in 10 minutes. ---FEATURES--- The key feature of starter kit is that it reduces the number of things you will carry with you to check your sugar levels on the go. All that you will carry will be a small plastic casing that serves three purposes: to carry your glucose strips, one sterile needle, and the lightning connector that reads the glucose strips made specifically for iPhones (model 5 or later). The overall size of the casing is about half the length of a dollar and about the width of two AA batteries side by side. ---PERFORMANCE--- The performance of this kit is based on your iPhone model. I connected mine to an iPhone X and it worked as expected. The reading of your glucose takes about 6-10 seconds and not once did it give me an error. The casing can be adjusted for several depth options for the needle to poke you. I was comfortable at level 3 while at level one, it didn’t even grace my finger. ---EXPECTATIONS--- The product meets my expectations. In the box, you will find 10 plastic bags. These bags are for you to insert your phone in them to protect the phone from blood splatter. I used one bag, but the manual says that the bags are recommended and not necessary for the app or lightning connector to read the strips. I didn’t use the bags again, as it seems silly to be carrying them around. I did enjoy that the app can also scan food items you consume with a barcode by using your phone’s camera. If you’ve ever used a smartwatch that keeps track of your calories, this works in a similar manner. However, I didn’t find that part of the app user friendly. The rest of the app, though, works great. There are some monthly plans that are optional but provide unlimited strips and 100 needles. The plans vary from 30 dollars a month (billed annually at 360 a year) to 85 dollars a month (billed annually at 1,020 a year). Alternatively, you can buy 100 strips at 69.99 a la carte. ---VALUE--- The price for the starter kit in terms of value is worth the investment if you check your glucose level on a consistent basis and on the go. ---APPROVAL--- I highly recommend this product for diabetics who consistently check their glucose daily but don’t want to be carrying an extra pouch with 2 or 3 different things. This is also perfect for people who may need assistance from a distance, as you can program the app to automatically contact a specific # if the person checking their glucose is either too low or too high (hyper or hypo alerts).

Help When I Didn’t Know Where to Look
My grandma has diabetes and for all of us in the family it gets harder and harder to be able to help her from a distance. The Dario is so compact it is going to fit in her bag everywhere she goes. Setup was pretty simple, and showing her the app was just as easy. I was so at ease to find out that information from the Dario monitor can be shared with family and with her physicians. In her older age she forgets a lot but she knows she has to monitor her health and so the fact that this helps track her health it goes above and beyond, leaps and bounds! Pricking herself isn’t fun at all but it is good to know that she’ll be able to see when she checked herself last. Technologically it is savvy, compact, easy to store and sleek looking. Also, she mentioned it feels good to be the cool granny with a blood monitor that doesn’t scare little ones or hinder what fits in her bag.

A good option for tracking glucose tests
I’ve used many different glucose monitors over the years and while they typically are a 4-step process (power on - insert test strip - add drop of blood - read results), I’ve had difficulties with them in the past. This kit was fairly easy to set-up even with the additional steps involved. Because this kit works with a mobile app, you have to attach a transmitter to the Lightning port of your phone (if using an iPhone) in addition to inserting a test strip and lancet for producing a blood droplet. I felt that the steps were self-explanatory and easy to follow. USER EXPERIENCE Using the monitor is simple. You do have to download a mobile app in order to get your test reading, but I don’t see that as a problem. The testing equipment seemed to function normally for me, but I didn’t test it side-by-side with another system. It’s very portable. The main unit will store test strips and the transmitter dongle, but not the lancets. That said, it is small and can easily be carried in a pocket or a purse. It would be nice if a small pouch was included so that you could easily carry lancets along with the tester. I really like that this device is designed to track and store your glucose tests. That said, it does ONLY work with the mobile app. I didn’t see this is a problem because my main reason for wanting this model was to track my tests. I love smart medical devices that catalog information in an app to be shared with medical professionals. This is actually a fairly affordable option for doing that with glucose testing. CONCLUSIONS I’ve been asked by my doctor to watch my blood sugar levels periodically because I have hypoglycemia. I’ve used the drugstore glucose monitors and they just seem to be overly complicated and I’ve had a lot of trouble with those machines even capturing my data. The Dario tester has been easy to use and I’ve not had any issues with it reading my blood tests. I would recommend this to anyone who needs to carefully monitor their testing progress.
