- Description: Double 180gm yellow colored vinyl LP pressing. 3 Feet High and Rising is the debut studio album by hip hop trio de la Soul and was released on March 3, 1989. It marked the first of three full-length collaborations with producer Prince Paul, which would become the critical and commercial peak of both parties. Critically, as well as commercially, the album was a success. It contains the singles, InchMe Myself and IInch, InchThe Magic Number, Inch InchBuddy, Inch and InchEye KnowInch. The album title came from the Johnny Cash song InchFive Feet High and RisingInch. It is listed on Rolling Stone's 200 Essential Rock Records and The Source's 100 Best Rap Albums. When Village Voice held it's annual Pazz & Jop Critics Poll for 1989, 3 Feet High and Rising was ranked #1. It was also listed on the Rolling Stone's The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. Released amid the 1989 boom in gangsta rap, which gravitated towards hardcore, confrontational, violent lyrics, de la Soul's uniquely positive style made them an oddity beginning with the first single, InchMe, Myself and IInch. Their positivity meant many observers labeled them a InchhippieInch group, based on their declaration of the InchD.A.I.S.Y. AgeInch (Da. Inner. Soul. Yall). Sampling artists as diverse as Hall & Oates, Steely Dan and The Turtles, 3 Feet High and Rising is often viewed as the stylistic beginning of 1990s alternative hip hop (and especially jazz rap). ![MF Doom - Mm..Food (20th Anniversary) - COMPACT DISCS [CD]](https://pisces.bbystatic.com/image2/BestBuy_US/images/products/27e8f5ec-285c-4df1-afb8-ec46f1666da3.jpg;maxHeight=422;maxWidth=264?format=webp)
Originally released in 2004, MF Doom's MM.FOOD is hailed as a classic hip-hop album full of inventive production, remarkable wordplay, and unique themes. Celebrated for it's seamless blend of humor, wit, and social commentary, the album ushers listeners into a bizarre world of food-related metaphors, painting a bitterly comedic portrait of a life tainted by vice, violence, and jealousy. It was a brilliant and novel concept that gave DOOM plenty of room to explore the album's subjects. Throughout MM.FOOD, DOOM embeds complex ideas within seemingly simple narratives. Album opener InchBeef RappInch is a multi-pronged metaphor reminding listeners of the dangers involved in the glorification of conflict, especially within the rap game. InchHoe CakesInch borrows it's name from the sweet, hot water cornmeal patties, which he uses as a symbol to rhyme about indulgence and excess. Continuing the motif, he uses the Madlib-produced InchOne BeerInch to fold layers of depth about escapism and ego, while the popular InchRapp Snitch KnishesInch critiques the self-incrimination and contradictory behaviors of some rappers. Overall, MM.FOOD is both a social commentary and a piece of social satire, showcasing MF Doom's ability to blend serious themes with his unique, playful lyrical style. The 20 Year Anniversary Edition of MM.. FOOD has completely new artwork by Sam Rodriguez. Album Tracks 1. Beef Rap 2. Hoe Cakes 3. Potholderz 4. One Beer 5. Deep Fried Frenz 6. Poo-Putt Platter 7. Fillet-O-Rapper 8. Gumbo 9. Fig Leaf Bi-Carbonate 10. Kon Karne 11. Guinnesses 12. Kon Queso 13. Rapp Snitch Knishes 14. Vomitspit 15. Kookies
