Debriano,Santi / Bembe,Arkestra - Ashanti - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

The concept for The Day That Is was born just before the pandemic but was accelerated once Heberer's touring schedule came to a halt. At home, Heberer fell back into his rigorous practicing and composing routines. By the summer of 2020, he realized that the social isolation might last for some time, so he decided to be proactive and have something to show for his time spent at home. The leader's pieces focused on a number of compositional elements, including ambiguous sounding symmetrical scales. He was also cognizant of providing different parameters for each piece and the architecture of the album as he put the program together.

Bassist makes his HighNote debut w. a well-planned program of original tunes, classics, a pop tune & Astor Piazzolla's wonderful InchPrelude To A Cyclical NightInch, feat. Israeli-born violinist Miri Ben-Ari, the ensemble produces a vast spectrum of musical color

Born in Panama, raised in New York, and residing for a period in Paris, the unique & highly original sound of Debriano is hardly cryptogenic. Santi has successfully blended the emotional & rhythmic character of his Latin American birth with the jazz sound of New York & tied it together with a logic & cosmopolitanism that may be considered somewhat French. Terms such as Inchworld musicInch & InchLatin jazzInch come to mind, but Santi's music defies categorization. Joining him is Israeli-born violinist Miri Ben-Ari, tenor sax man Abraham Burton, Brazilian pianist Helio Alves, and Latin percussionist Willie Martinez playing all sorts of exotic instruments.
