Duduka Da Fonseca - Samba Jazz & Tom Jobim - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Florent Schmitt was one of the most important of all French composers, an individualist who defies the simplicities of classification. The last of this four-disc series explores Schmitt's Humoresques, Op. 43, a cycle full of unexpected and witty twists, as well as the visionary Lied et scherzo, Op. 54. His gift for characterization is always evident, not least in Trois pieces recreates, Op. 37 which is strongly spiced with humor.

2018 . Duduka Da Fonseca Trio Plays Dom Salvador was born from the leader's love of Salvador and his music and Fonseca's effort to make a proper tribute to his friend and mentor. The featured trio was born of a 2000 meeting with pianist David Feldman, who was studying then at the New School in New York, and with whom Fonseca recorded with later in 2009 in Brazil, where he also met the trio's bassist, Guto Wirtti.

He has also been integral in the presentation of music by Brazilian legends, like Astrud Gilberto, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Claudio Roditi and Dom Salvador among others. // In 2009, Da Fonseca formed his Brazilian based trio, featuring pianist David Feldman and bassist Guto Wirtti. The Rio based Feldman and Wirtti are the first calls that Da Fonseca makes whenever he returns to Brazil. The trio's instinctive rapport was developed over the years, allowing them a freely flowing style of play.
