The print quality is great but the copy to print is incredibly detailed and near perfect to the original image. I love how little ink it uses after its first run. I've used 20lb, 28lb, and 65lb paper in this with the only issue being printing to the reverse side. Sometimes it does jam but only if I am mass printing

The Good: nice photos and print quality, nice-looking, moderately noisy. The Meh: membrane buttons are lame (but at least they're clicky). at least they're clicky. Settings menus are typically bad. THE BAD: ** GIMMICKY MOTORIZED OUTPUT TRAY is certain to break at some point, and needs to be MANUALLY RETRACTED AFTER EVERY USE if you want to prevent dust from getting into the input tray. ** MANDATORY INITIAL SETUP AND "PRIMING" TOOK LITERALLY 1/4 OF THE INK, see photos

The Epson EcoTank ET-3930 is designed for people who are tired of cartridge drama and want something more economical for high-volume home or small business printing. I like the clean, modern look; it’s not an eyesore on the desk and actually looks decent in a home office. Setup is about as easy as it gets—fill the keyed ink tanks (can’t mess up the colors), connect to Wi-Fi or USB, walk through the app prompts, and you’re off and running. Wireless setup went okay, and the printer held its network connection without fuss. For scanning, copying, and regular document printing, it just works, and it’s relatively quiet even during long jobs. It is pretty slow to me but for 1 to 5 sheet prints, it’s fast enough for most. The EcoTank’s biggest win is the ink system. Those bottles are simple and basically mess-free if you don’t force it. The cost per page is ridiculously low compared to cartridges. Most people can go months—or even over a year—before refilling, and supposedly, the ink levels actually seem to last forever. It makes a huge difference in ongoing cost, especially if you’re printing thousands of pages. Black-and-white prints are sharp and professional with near laser sharpness with inkjet paper; color is strong for everyday work and graphics. Photo prints are perfectly acceptable for intermittant use, definitely not pro-level, but great for family albums or school projects. This is a 4 color printer so it wouldn’t be great for archival prints. This is also not the printer you would use for 500 sheet dissertations or for a busy law office. There are some trade-offs. There’s NO automatic document feeder, so scanning or copying multi-page documents is a manual process. First-page-out speeds for color-heavy jobs are glacially slow, and for truly premium photo output, you’d need a more specialized printer with more colors. For most productivity, work, or school use, this thing is just fine. Maintenance matters a bit more on EcoTank than with cartridge printers. You’ll need to swap out the maintenance box if you print a lot, and it’s worth running off a couple pages a week to avoid any chance of dried-out print heads. Neglect it, and you might end up running a cleaning cycle or two—which is easy but takes time. Fortunately, the maintenance box is fairly cheap coming in at less than $10, so compared to carts, it’s still a savings. If you’re crafty or run a small business, you CAN convert the ET-3930 for sublimation printing. Once you convert, you’re locked into sublimation mode and the Epson warranty’s gone, but for DIY shirts, mugs, and gifts, it’s something you can do with EcoTank, and why a lot of people like this printer (including me). I haven’t done it to this printer yet, but I’m glad to know that I can. If you print a lot and want low-hassle, low-cost color for work, the ET-3930 is a big upgrade from cart-based inkjets. It’ll save you a ton and just keep working.
