A: If your iTunes/Apple account has never had Apple TV+, you can use your current Apple ID. Otherwise you might need to create another iTunes account. Once you do that, I clicked on the link Best Buy email provided using my phone. Logged into my new apple account, and here is what bothers people, it clearly says "start your 7 day trial." Click on this and you will see that you get the standard 7 day trial, after plus you get three free months, and then it will show when your first payment of $4.99 occurs, 13 weeks later. After that I manually logged into Apple TV on my TV. The confusion is the original promo banner only mentions the 7 day trial. Just click through that.

Apple TV
The Apple TV is honestly one of the smoothest streaming devices out there. The picture quality is top-notch (4K HDR looks amazing), and the interface is super clean and easy to use compared to other streaming boxes that feel cluttered. It works seamlessly with iPhone and AirPods, so if you’re already in the Apple ecosystem, it just makes everything effortless — signing in, screen mirroring, even using your phone as the remote. Performance-wise, it’s really fast. Apps open instantly, no lag, and switching between streaming services feels seamless. Plus, the Siri voice search actually works pretty well for finding shows across apps. Downsides? It’s definitely on the pricey side, especially when other devices can stream just fine for way cheaper. And while the Apple TV+ content has gotten better, it’s still not as deep as Netflix or Hulu. Overall though, if you want the best streaming experience and you already use Apple products, it’s worth it. 4.5/5 — a little expensive, but buttery smooth and polished.

A summer win with 3+ months of free Apple TV

Apple TV is Just Okay
Apple TV is an interesting service. Most of the original titles didn’t quite appease me and their streaming library is limited to say the least. Where it shines is the ability to both rent/buy titles, pairing of other select streaming services into the Apple TV platform, and integration of a smart-home hub much like Amazons various platforms. At its core the service boasts a smooth, high-quality streaming experience, supporting 4K HDR/Dolby Vision and impressive audio features. Apple TV does its job and it’s ad free. But in comparison to its competitor it doesn’t quite stand tall. Especially when considering its current $12.99 price point at of October 2025, vs Amazon video (with their extensive and solid catalogue but trade out is there’s ads) for $8.99 or a fully inclusive Prime Membership (which has Amazon video ad free + same-2 day free shipping on prime orders) for $14.99. If you’re unsure, you can acquire a 3-month trial with the purchase of different electronics products/accessories through Best Buy or Apple which comes in handy for those with buyers hesitation. Keep in mind that Apple is this services developer meaning you should expect to run into ecosystem-lock. While improving, there’s much weaker support and awkward experiences on non-Apple devices. Primarily seen on consoles where the app/interface is less polished with buggy UI systems. Many of its benefits are most useful if you are already in Apple’s ecosystem. If you’re an Android, Console, or Windows-only user the advantages feel less strong.
