A: Hi Susan- The microwave is shipped from the factory to vent outdoors out the top (vertically), but can also be vented out the rear (horizontally) or recirculating (non-vent indoors). Recirculating Charcoal Filter JX81J is included for recirculating vent option. Each microwave comes with the mounting hardware (mounting bracket, screws, exhaust adapter), top and rear templates, and installation instructions needed to make installation a simple process. This makes choosing a replacement microwave easy. NOTE: When replacing an over-the-range microwave, the mounting bracket included with the new microwave should be used since the mounting bracket is specific to each model. The new screws, bolts, and exhaust adapter should also be used. Nice appliance!
So far so good. The microwave performs well and matches my GE range. The only weird thing is that the fan runs automatically when you turn on the microwave, and i haven't figured out how to turn it off.

Pretty good microwave
Installation of the microwave was fairly easy. The door shuts loudly and definitely does not feel as sturdy as the GE Profile (10 years old) that I am replacing. The buttons are ok, but you really have to push to get them to activate. I am not in love with the new GE, but for the price point and compared to others in the same price range I feel like this was a good deal.
