Q: Can the water and ice be used without the filter installed?
A: There is a plug that must be installed to use water/ice without the filter. You have to contact GE for it. They sent me one right away.

A: Change the third model letter from a "S" to a "E" to get the "energy efficient" model. It's $ 700 more expensive! You get a couple of extra shelves but looking at the electrical specs, it would never make back that $700 in anyone's lifetime.
Q: Can this be ordered without the ice and water filters set up?
A: This model doesn't come without the dispenser. If you are asking if you have to connect the water to the icemaker, you don't have to. We just recommend that you turn your icemaker off if it won't be connected. Joyce@GEAppliances

Q: Why would my new, 14 day old stop dispensing & the red light come on indicating a filter problem?
A: Hello - Thanks for reaching out; we'd be glad to help. If using an XWFE filter, the reasons the water filter will flash a red light can be due to a bad or damaged filter, the filter is wet, or the filter is expired. Change the water filter or install the bypass plug with the RFID sensor to resolve. Proper installation of the filter can be found on pages 9 and 10 of the owner's manual. Q: How much ice does this make and hold?
A: The icemaker will produce seven cubes per cycle, which is approximately 100–130 cubes in a 24-hour period. The number of cubes produced will depend on the freezer compartment temperature, number of door openings and other use conditions. When the bin fills to the level of the feeler arm, the icemaker will stop making ice until the amount of ice decreases. - Julia@GEAppliances
Q: Is a repair service needed to change the LED lights in the refrigerator ?
A: No, you do not need to call for service to replace the lightbulbs. You can find the instructions for the replacement starting on page 19 of the Use and Care Manual which is linked in the "From the Manufacturer" section of this product page.
