    • Drying Method: Condenser drying (Appliances that use heat to dry the dishes will include a heating element or minerals which transform moisture into heat. A fan or vent then circulates the hot dry air throughout the tub during the drying cycle. This may reduce drying time and the risk of water spots. Appliances that use minerals to produce heat are considered more energy efficient than those that include a heating element. Appliances that use condensation drying are considered more energy efficient than those that use heated drying. Instead, high temperature water is produced during the final rinse cycle which warms the interior and eventually condensates and drains out of the machine.)

Q: What is an Automatic Hotstart feature that is suppose to facilitate drying?? This is not suppose to have a drying feature. Unsure how dishes are suppose to dry especially with door closed. How long does it take for dishes to dry? Are they spotted?

A: Hi Connie - Thanks for considering our GE Portable Model GPT225SGLBB. This model features Condensate Dry which is an energy-efficient drying system on some dishwashers. With this drying system design, condensation will form on cooler surfaces in a warm humid environment. At the end of a cycle, while the dish load is still hot, the stainless steel tub walls are already cooling down and pulling condensation to form on the tub walls instead of the dishes. This provides natural air drying of the dish load. The use of a rinse agent, such as Finish® Jet-Dry® Rinse Aid, ensures spot and film protection for dishes and assists the drying process. For proper drying, the dishwasher door must be opened immediately after the Clean light comes on. Due to variables, we are not able to provide an exact dry time. Hot Start Option will preheat the water allowing dishes to be washed at any time. Water coming into the dishwasher may be as low as 95 degrees F and this feature will help raise the temperature to the required 120 degrees F. It actually heats the tub, spray arms, dishes, (prior to the main wash cycle) allowing proper cleaning without effecting the energy label. Once selected, approximately 1-1/2 gallons of water enters the tub, circulates in the tub for 5 minutes and then drains. This helps to purge cold water that may be in the line. Then another 1-1/2 gallons of water enters the tub and circulates for approximately 15 minutes and then drains. The heating element is on during this period of Auto HotStart heating up the water and the tub. After this option is run, the dishwasher will automatically go into the cycle that has been selected. Q: How long are the power cord and water hook up lines to fawcett?

A: Hello Tcully. All portable dishwasher models have rubber or plastic hoses that connect to the sink. Portable fill and drain hoses will extend out 35" from the left rear top corner of the dishwasher as you face the dishwasher. The power cord will extend 5 feet from the left rear top corner as you face the dishwasher. Thanks for checking. Olga

Q: SINCE THIS PRODUCT DOES NOT COME WITH A FAUCET ADAPTER , THEN HOW DO I CONNECT IT TO MY FAUCET? IF I HAVE TO BUY ONE, WHERE WOULD I PURCHASE IT AT?

A: Hi DEBW - GE 24" Portable Dishwasher Model GPT225SSLSS comes with a faucet adapter and 2 washers (Thick/Thin). We suggest viewing the Installation Instructions at the following link: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=31-4000205.pdf - If the faucet adapter threads do not match your faucet spout, your local hardware or plumbing supply store normally has additional fittings to adapt your faucet to the special faucet adapter. Thanks for choosing GE. Keep in touch at GEAppliances.com. Sue

Q: What is the top of the unit made of?

A: Hi Kee - Thanks for your interest in GE Model # GPT225SGLWW! This model has a gray, decorative laminate wood top. It is a durable laminate surface that is less maintenance than wood. This top is not susceptible to water damage and possible separation of the veneer from the wood top. It is not designed to handle hot pots right off the burner or abrasive cleaners. Keep in touch at GEAppliances.com for all your appliance needs! Sue

Q: Does model GPT225SGLWW come with tap fittings and can you please tell me the length of the electrical cord as well as the water reach to the tap and last but not least the length of the drain hose. Thank you .

A: Hi Linda - Thanks for choosing GE Model GPT225SGLWW! The unicouple hoses and faucet adapter are included. Dishwasher unicouple hoses are 32" from back of unit to the unicouple connection. The hose comes out of the back near the back left corner. The power cord will extend 5 feet from the left rear top corner as you face the dishwasher. Remove the existing strainer or aerator and screw on the aerator adapter. It fits most standard faucet spouts. An Aerator Faucet Adapter adapts your kitchen faucet to accept the dishwasher hose connection and reduces splashing in the sink when dishwasher is not hooked-up. The Unicouple slips onto the aerator adapter and locks into place to supply hot water to the dishwasher through the top hose. Used water drains through the lower hose and out the bottom of the unicouple into the sink. The Unicouple faucet adapter provides simple, quick connect and disconnect of hot water to the dishwasher. A pressure-release valve lets you disconnect hose from faucet without splashing. We suggest viewing the Installation Guide at the following link: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=31-4000205.pdf - If you have any additional questions, do not hesitate to ask, we are happy to help at GEAppliances.com! Sue

Q: Do I have to open door to dishwasher completely so it can dry or can I just open it a little. Have cats will jump in dishwasher

A: I saw on social media where you can hang a kitchen towel on off the top rack (after it stops) and close the door, the towel will absorb a lot of the moisture. I tried it and it actually does absorb a lot of the water. But not all. I still don’t understand why this dishwasher doesn’t dry the dishes.

Q: Can this model also be installed in kitchen cabinets at later date?

A: Hello Ksher - Thank you for the excellent question. We are happy to help. Model GPT225SSLSS can not be converted to a built-in unit. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please let us know if you have any more questions. - JB

Works fine without the sink adapter.

Well it's been say 6 weeks since I put it into it's still early. But there was never a spot under the counters in my kitchen to put a dishwasher. It was always my intention to cut the sink adapter off it and make it a permanent installation from date of purchase. Only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is if my intention was to use it as a portable, I would have had to replace my faucet and the one I have is pretty generic. Second the hoses are pretty short. Running PVC up through the floor behind it to the basement for a drain, and barbing the water supply line has so far worked perfectly.

Quiet portable dishwasher that works well.

HAPPY WITH OUR NEW DISHWASHER. It is quieter, uses less energy, and cleans better, than prior portables we have owned, As a portable dishwasher we can roll it around the kitchen for use as an island workspace when we want extra counter top space for food preparations or clean up. Those with kitchens to small for a 24” dish washer might find the narrower 18” wide portables better than counter top models that eat up counter space rather than adding to it. We started using portables after moving from a larger house with a built-in dishwasher in the west into a smaller New Jersey house without a built-i, and no place to install one. The extra counter space was immediately appreciated along with the fact we didn’t have to fill the sink with unsightly dirty dishes. Like any self-respecting dishwasher, the portable was happy to let us hide the dirties within it..
