Questions & Answers
  • Is this a flat back electric dryer? Can it be installed with a flexible vent hose, if necessary? Space limited. If it does not fit can item be returned at time of delivery without cost? We have max depth from front of dryer to wall of 28.5 inches.

Hi deal53- This is Sue at GE Appliances. Thanks for viewing our GE Series Dryers! Yes, the back of the dryer is flat. We encourage you to view the Quick Specs for a view of the back of the dryer and complete dimensions. 1" rear clearance is recommended: http://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=GTX33EASK_C3.pdf - Also, GE Appliances recommends the use of solid metal vent pipe, 4" in diameter, for adequate operation. 4" flexible metal venting may be used, but will increase drying time somewhat. GE Appliances does not recommend the use flexible, white, plastic vent pipe. This type of vent pipe can collapse and restrict the airflow, causing lint to build up inside the dryer. This build-up could cause the heaters to fail prematurely. We hope this is helpful. Thanks for checking with us!

  • So I bought this a week ago. The other dryers that I have had in the past, have made the clothes hot or the touch is there something wrong with my dryer because they don’t even feel as hot, but do dry

Hi CoreyWallace - The Auto Dry feature on GE dryers is designed to help prevent clothes from over drying. Over drying may reduce the life of the fabric. To avoid over drying, the automatic dry feature helps determine the amount of time necessary to dry a load of clothes. By continually sensing the temperatures of the air in the dryer drum, the thermostat controls the heat source (heater coils or gas valve) and the advancement of the dryer timer. When the laundry is wet, the air is cool in the dryer. As the load begins to dry and the drum air is warm, the heat turns off. As the air cools, the control activates the heat to come on again. This off and on cycling may happen a number of times (depending on the fabric, load size, and cycle selector setting). The cycle selector advances (when the heat is off) until it automatically turns off dryer. Also, there is a "cool down" period at the end of the cycle to reduce wrinkling. Thanks for choosing GE! • The vent for my dryer is on the side . But I need a long vented small dryer. Is it ok to get this one and have the vent go to the back of the dryer . I have 6 inches on space for the vent back there . Or do I need to get a side vented dryer?

Hi! Thanks for reaching out. This model can actually be vented through the rear, bottom, left, or right. If you vent the unit using any of the options other than the rear, you'd need to purchase the following part to make sure that the rear of the unit is covered: WE49X22606. More information about exhausting your dryer can be found starting on page 12 of your Installation Instructions. Hope this helps. Best wishes. -Michael@GEA

  • Where is the dryer vent located on the back of the dryer? I am very limited on space and it needs to line up flush with the wall.

Hello Kelsey. This is Lida with GE Appliances. If you are facing the rear of the dryer, the center point of the vent is 4" from the bottom of the dryer and is 11-3/4" from the left side. I hope this helps!
