It's good for light-to-medium Steam gaming, indie games (like Hades or Dead Cells), and older or eSports AAA titles (similar to CS:GO, League of Legends, GTA V), but it will struggle with demanding modern games. On those, you will get smooth 1080p gaming only by using low-to-medium settings: very low resolutions and heavy upscaling (like AMD FSR) to produce an acceptable frame rate. Upgrading to 32GB can help improve integrated graphics performance by sharing more system memory as VRAM. The 1TB SSD is a good baseline space for several medium-sized games, though large modern games (which often exceed 100GB each) will fill it up quickly. It does have a USB4 port, meaning you can technically connect an external desktop graphics card (eGPU) later if you want a major gaming boost, but, aside from the extra cost, there are a few tradeoffs.

Don't know why you would want an external drive, since you can add one internally (although only SATA SSD), upgrade the one in place, or both.
