As for your concern, All Geeni devices are designed to work for 2.4 GHz for a wider range, unlike the 5 GHz that cannot penetrate walls and floor. Since most routers nowadays are dual-band (a combination of 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), you can ask your Internet Service Provider to separate the 2.4 GHz to 5.GHz for them to have different SSID. Once it has been separated, you will have two WiFi names. One for the 2.4 GHz and then one for the 5.0 GHz. From there, you'll have a choice to connect your Geeni device to the 2.4 GHz band.
