Gloria Lynne - Happy and in Love - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

In the kaleidoscopic world of jazz and soul, few voices shine brighter than Gloria Lynne's. By 1974, Lynne wasn't just a singer - she was a force of nature, weaving the precision of jazz with the raw, heart-on-sleeve intensity of soul and pop. Born and raised in Harlem, she carried the neighborhood's spirit with her, from gospel choirs to the Apollo stage, where a teenage talent show win set her on a path to stardom. Her voice, smooth as velvet and fierce as a tempest, carved out a space that was entirely her own in the male-dominated world of jazz. This album is evidence of that. It captures the heart of a remarkable artist. A greatest hits snapshot of a woman who turned jazz into her personal playground while seamlessly crossing over into pop without ever losing sight of her roots. This album is more than a collection of songs; it's a vivid portrait of an artist who built her career on grit, grace, and a relentless refusal to be confined by labels. Each track is a testament to Lynne's ability to infuse standards with her own emotional depth and to transform pop melodies into deeply personal statements.

Debut studio album by the English new wave band, originally released in November 1978.
