    Pixel 11 grows up :)

I have spent a solid week evaluating the Pixel 11 Fold, doing the things I normally do. My first impression: honestly, what incredible hardware! The hinge is slimmer than ever. My last Pixel fold was the 9 Fold and I was amazed with the engineering then. The new hinge design is so efficient and thoughtfully engineered and I’d say Google is 1:1 with Samsung on amazing, mature hinge designs. The Pixel is up to Samsung in build quality in my opinion, which is an amazing feat to begin with. Basically, my first thought is: “Mostly familiar hardware, but constructed as a matured folding phone platform all grown up!”engineering is a marvel for all folding phones. Once Apple launches theirs, they will have benefitted from Samsung and Google’s amazing engineering teams multi-generation design quality iterations. Based on this, I feel like the Pixel 11 Pro Fold will compete very nicely with the iPhone fold. I’d bet Google’s hinge design is currently superior but I reserve the right to change my mind if the iPhone hinge is mindblowing. It’s super light and durable. I think the back is some new composite material Google developed that’s virtually impossible to break. It’s really nice and has a nice texture. The magnets in this generation are super strong, so Qi charging via Magsafe accessories should be no problem. It’s a satisfyingly strong click, important since so many things in daily life depend on magsafe working perfectly. The screens are mind-bogglingly bright, even in direct sunlight. It’s like 3600 nits or something crazy. I’m very satisfied with the screens. The outer screen is finally an upgraded Super Actua display and is capable of 0-120Hz, allowing for full screen standby images/graphics. The inside display is incredible. So bright and vibrant; truly an impressive OLED they used this generation! Also new is the notification light. This was always an awesome feature. I believe Motorola was first to do this, so it’s nice to have it back. This one is really high quality, i.e. it is a high-quality LED that has a bright multi-color swirling property about it that’s quite nice looking. It lights a certain way depending on who’s calling or texting you. It also pulses and responds when you are conversing with Gemini. That’s about it. If it feels like a short list, I hope Google has future development and features in store for the “HiLight” on the back. Otherwise it seems like an odd thing to focus on when launching the phone, but it’s nice to have none the less. The cameras are amazing this go-round. Amazing HDR high-framerate features that are trademarks of a Pixel phone. They are outstanding and, coupled with the superior processing Google’s algorithms, results in a drop-in replacement for nearly any realistic photography needs. The latest generation is always the best and that’s not an outlier here. Despite this, I still use a case, so I bought the Google Pixel Snap Obsidian and it’s fantastic feeling. Very pleased since it’s still a slippery device while naked. Gemini and AI overall is everywhere on the Pixel. That’s the entire point of using a Google device and I find the integration of all of it useful to me, so ymmv. The performance is more than enough for anything I plan on doing with it, including 4k footage and outstanding photos. The displays are super bright and vibrant and easy to use in any situation. Although I wasn’t able to really use it, but you can live transcribe with sign language (ASL)! That’s crazy impressive and is a great addition to the Pixel product line. The zoom is awesome as well. Super Zoom they call it. It works very well and is honestly impressive on a folding phone. One of my favorite features is “Rambler” where you just speak as you go about your day. It’s always listening. Stop it any time and it summarizes what you’ve said into coherent text. Not sure if that’s a Pixel exclusive feature, but one I’ve not used prior so I find it useful. Wireless charging is fast and the Pixel screensaver is quite nice, I must say. You do get a 6-month subscription to AI Pro, down from the 1-yr the Pixel line has included before. That’s a shame as this is not a cheap phone by any stretch, at least do the free year, but something is better than nothing of course. Honestly this phone does so many incredible things, like having a free VPN service from Google at no extra charge. SOS satellite messaging, car crash notifications and theft protection, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold is amazing by any measure, potentially bested only by the yet-to-be-released iPhone Fold. Google’s done this a few times and their hardware is fine-tuned at this point. I can easily recommend it to anyone who wants the Pixel “Google” Experience and the hardware is mature and impressive. I’m super happy with it in all ways, honestly. *no AI of any kind was used on this post because I feel AI summaries remove the human element/nuance from the conversation. Honestly, I miss real communication as AI sanitizes so many things these days. :)

    Unfold a Smarter Gemini Experience!

Google used to only develop the Android operating system for several smartphone manufacturers. I recall when I first heard the news that the company would be also producing their own smartphones, I was skeptical about the caliber of devices that would result. Fast forward to 2026 and the dawn of the Pixel 11 series, needless to say Google had the last laugh. As packaged: • Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold • USB-C to USB-C cable • Sim removal tool • Safety, warranty and regulatory guide I always used to wonder what the attraction to Pixels was? I was converted by the Pixel 9 Pro Fold and I haven’t looked back since. Integration is a keyword that comes to mind when discussing a Pixel. Which other devices share the local weather at a contact’s location when simply looking up an address? I wonder how I managed without the Hold for me feature or Call Screening especially with the improved spamming technology currently available. The Pixel 11 Pro Fold’s outer display is now a rather generous and brighter 6.5-inch display delivering a traditional brick smartphone experience. It remains OLED with a refresh rate that can range from 1 to 120Ghz to help deliver power frugality or maximum performance as needed. Per the specifications, the display is more capable of surviving drops from greater heights than the previous iteration. The internal display is an 8-inch OLED Super Actua Flex display with a minimal crease capable of a 2076 x 2152 maximum resolution. While other foldables have been plagued by various screen defects/issues even with normal use, Google appears to have the secret winning formula. Thanks to the Google Tensor G6 chip and 16 GB of onboard RAM, it is simply a joy using the device. Wi-Fi 7, 5G and Bluetooth 6.0 are all available for wireless communication. I am able to get a day’s use on my Pixel 11 Pro Fold with moderate to heavy use. An Extreme Charging feature facilitates about 50% percent of charge in about 30 minutes when using an adapter rated at 30W or more. There is support for wireless charging rate up to 25W with an appropriate Qi 2.2 charger. Overall build feels very solid. The aluminum frame is also coated with a finger-resistant coating should you prefer to use your device without a case. I am excited about the fact that the Pixelsnap case for the device appears to provide coverage for the hinge. While the cover is strong, I prefer the added protection from scratches or scuffs. Android 17 ships with the Pixel 11 Pro Fold and the device is also promised updates for 7 years. While there are some novel hardware updates such as the HiLight feature which employs the multi-LED flash for Gemini and favorite contact notifications, the software aspect of Pixels is where they truly shine in my opinion. VPN is provided onboard for additional connection protection when needed. Live Translate is another useful feature which can translate voice messages and media in real time. Rambler allows you to compose polished messages from literal rambling, eliminating corrections, pauses, word-fillers etc. Harnessing the foldable ability of the device, Made You Look displays animation on the outer screen to help capture the attention of toddlers for the perfect shot. Instant View allows you to review a shot on one half of the inner display while the other serves as the view finder to assist a side-by-side comparison. Magic Capture is for those moments when deciding between a video and picture may be difficult. It essentially captures one long video and attempts to save highlights as photos. In my experience, my expectations were exceeded. Sign-to-Text uses a camera to capture American Sign Language (ASL) into text. The triple camera system in the rear (48MP wide, 10.5MP ultrawide and 10.8MP telephoto) is now capable of 30x zoom and captures even more stunning pictures regardless of the time of day. The Night Sight feature along with a bigger sensor helps the device achieve this. The front and inner cameras employ a 10MP lens each. Pixels seek to assist wherever and as much as they can. The Pixel 11 Pro Fold just that with the added benefit of a light and foldable with an expansive inner 8-inch screen. It is safe to say they are here to stay. With a robust build and an IP68 rating, I am still very confident having a foldable as my main phone. The mind-boggling question is that if all these features are currently available, what does the future hold? Best is definitely yet to come but doesn’t get any better as of now. I highly recommend the device!

A Usable Foldable with Case-Free MagSafe

This is my first Pixel foldable, I have had several iterations of another brand’s foldable. Coming from those, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold immediately feels different in the hand. It is noticeably wider, shorter, and slightly thicker, giving it a distinct, boxy aesthetic. Despite the squarer profile, it feels easy to hold and use. Typing on the front screen is a breeze, and I didn’t find myself constantly opening it to view and type on the larger screen. Opening it up reveals a massive 8-inch main display that gets extremely bright (up to 3,600 nits peak). I had no issues whatsoever being able to see and use the screen in bright daylight. Initially I was a little disappointed in the back panel. Traditionally, phones have a glass or metal backside, but the Pixel 11 Pro Fold does not. Instead, it has a matte composite texture that feels like plastic. My first thought was, “Well, this is kind of cheap.” But it has grown on me. Instead of always being worried about scratching a glass back, the plastic has held up well and has not shown a mark. I don’t feel like I have to run out and place a case on the phone. Any other reservations I might have had with the back-side material vanished as soon as I tested the charging: it has built-in magnetic wireless charging (PixelSnap / Qi2.2 certified) directly on the back without needing a special case. Being able to snap it straight onto standard magnetic chargers, car mounts, and accessories without adding the extra bulk of a protective case is a big-time win. A couple of thoughts on performance: Speed & Battery: Powered by Google’s Tensor G6 chip and 16GB of RAM, daily navigation and multitasking are snappy. The 4806 mAh battery easily lasts a full day, and 30W wired charging tops it back up quickly. Cameras: The camera setup is versatile, featuring a 48MP main sensor and up to 30x Super Zoom. There’s also handy software tools like Magic Capture. Helpful Intelligence: This is perhaps the most AI-powerful phone I’ve ever owned. AI to pull up details in emails. AI to pull grocery lists out of text messages. AI to provide timely information about scheduling. Gemini is of course heavily interconnected here, and you can carry on conversations with it. Durability: The hinge feels smooth and sturdy (listed as aerospace-grade steel), and the Pixel 11 Pro Fold has a full IP68 water/dust resistance rating. Call quality: No issues here. Speakers get plenty loud, music and movies sound good. The Pixel 11 Pro Fold is a serious competitor to other foldable phones. With its more squared build, it feels easier to hold in the hands, and both screens are absolutely beautiful. It is snappy, has a great camera, great battery life, and a ton of useful AI features.

    A Practical Flagship Phone Experience

The Pixel 11 Pro Fold is an excellent folding phone that provides a productive and immersive inner screen experience. The last book-style foldable I owned was a Z Fold 4, and its outer screen was so narrow that it felt useless and I ended up using the inner screen almost the entire time. At that point it made more sense to use a cheaper 8 inch tablet, so I eventually got rid of the Z Fold 4. With an aspect ratio of 19.5:9, the outer display of the Pixel 11 Pro Fold feels much more like a flagship candy bar style phone (albeit a little tall for my smaller hands). It was also much lighter than I had expected. The inner and outer OLED screens look crisp and feel snappy with the 120hz Smooth Display, and colors feel balanced, especially in its ‘natural’ color profile. At the same time, the inner display’s crease can be glaringly obvious in certain lighting and angles, detracting from the experience at times. However, despite its crease, the multitasking of a book style phone is something I have missed dearly, and the 11 Pro Fold’s experience is as good as I had expected, if not better. Attachments in Gmail automatically open on one half of the screen with a single touch, allowing me to scroll through my inbox while referencing the document without having to bounce back and forth between windows or apps. Watching videos while browsing on Chrome was also a fantastic experience - it truly felt like I was using two devices at once. The speakers sound excellent for a foldable in my opinion - although it does lack a little bass compared to other flagship phones and tablets, but not to the point where it sounds thin or tinny. The microphone of the phone sounds full and clear. Its camera takes excellent photos, even in low light. Photo colors appear natural and look great without an overly artificial, processed look. The Circle to Search within the camera app is also convenient; for example, I pointed the camera at an air purifier and it looked up the exact model - no more searching for receipts/order history to look up model numbers to buy replacement filters. In my opinion, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold is a great device with few compromises - it delivers an excellent flagship outer screen experience while offering the equivalent of an 8-inch tablet on the inside.

    Fold into the future.

This is my first Pixel Fold device. I usually get the newest Pixel every year but was able to get my hands on the 11 Pro Fold and I must say this is an exceptional device.. the hardware is beautiful and it feels premium. ____________________ I can definitely tell differences between the new G6 Tensor and the new modem being used this year. Thermals are a lot better than they were in previous year pixels and reception is significantly better by comparison as well. ____________________ Battery life isn't too bad, but still an area Google needs to work on. Hoping for a carbon battery next year. With moderate use you can get 24 hours out of it. ____________________ Cameras are really nice also, especially for a folding phone. Night photos are better than expected and the zoom is impressive, 30x super zoom comes in handy. ____________________ For as thin as this device is its really impressive all that they packed in this. ____________________ The screens are stunning as well. Very bright and vivid. ____________________ The hinge has to be one of the better ones I've experience as well. You can tell this was something they really wanted to be study. ____________________ Highlight notifications is neat. I really hope Google opens this up more. For my rest of it I had my phone facing down and activated it to set a timer for doing plank exercises. Visually seeing the LED light up and color was helpful and confirmed activation for me of my command. ____________________ Rambler is also incredible. I didn't think that Google could make voice to text any better but here they are evolving that with the Rambler function. As a matter of fact this part of my review was done using the Rambler. ____________________ I strongly recommend this phone if you're on the fence of getting a fold or standard pixel. You get all the great features packed into a foldable. And one of the best ones on the market in my opinion..
