In an interview, the composer Sergej Newski remembered, InchThe voice was the ideal path for finding my own idiom. In the late 1990s I began to transfer expressive vocal sounds into syntactic systems that obstruct their expressivity. I set out to find the primordial element of the voice.Inch This recording includes his works Blindenalphabet, Alles and J'etais d'accord performed by the Ensemble Mosaik and Arbeitsfleñche performed by the ensemble MusikFabrik.

Danish cellist, Carl-Oscar Østerlind (b. 1984) is one of his generation ´s most versatile musicians. He has been described by the Los Angeles Times as a Inchsuperb cellistInch and was recently awarded the Danish Arts Council ´s career grant InchDen Unge EliteInch. In 2010 he won the Danish String Competition and was a top prizewinner of the InchLjunggrenska CompetitionInch in Sweden. Carl-Oscar Østerlind appeared as a soloist and chamber musician at festivals such as Ravinia Festival's Steans Music Institute, Piatigorsky Cello Festival, Verbier Festival, Ipalpiti Festival, Prussia Cove ´s InchOpen Chamber MusicInch and Bergen Festspillene. As a concerto soloist, he performed in front of orchestras in Denmark, Sweden, USA and Mexico.

Black is the color of the bile said to induce a state of gloom. In the form of Inchmelancholia,Inch it has become an allegory of the artistic imagination. The hour of melancholy strikes at night, when the sleep of reason brings forth it's monsters. This CD takes us on a foray into the land of shadows it's compositions make remarkable use of light and shadow effects while simultaneously recalibrating the relationship between ensemble and soloist in unique ways. Michael Jarrell's arrangement of a violin concerto for chamber orchestra refracts the solo instrument's line through the prism of the ensemble. The tale told by Stefano Gervasoni's InchloweredInch concerto for double bass is only superficially about dolce far niente; his music is a nocturnal creature that gathers odd sound forms - until the alarm goes off. Taking an (early-morning) look in the mirror, the solo flute in Durand's InchOmbre/MiroirInch finds itself still faced with shadowy creatures as well. And finally, in Brian Ferneyhough's seven tableaux vivants, the angel of history appears in verses of poet Charles Bernstein he shows his gloomy face.
