Hania Rani - Sentimental Value - VINYL LP

The Ellington Suites is an album by American pianist, composer and bandleader Duke Ellington which collects three suites recorded in 1959, 1971 and 1972. The album won a Grammy Award for Best Jazz Performance by a Big Band. Interesting fact Ellington wrote the Queens Suite for Queen Elizabeth II, who was presented with a single pressing of the recording which was not commercially issued during Ellington's lifetime. This newly re-mastered edition features a previously unreleased bonus track; the only known recording of the Ellington composition 'The Kiss'.

An interesting slice of electro-funk from noted Philly Soul producer Buddy Turner, InchCabbage Patch ScratchInch has an irresistible beat and features the vocal expertise of InchGorgeous GeorgeInch Leone aided by some nice female back-ups. This was Philadelphia's response to the Cabbage Patch dance craze that started on the West Coast and initiated by the World Class Wrecking Crew which featured a young Dr. Dre. Originally released in 1984, InchCabbage Patch ScratchInch has become something of a collector's item among fans of early electro funk, the original vinyl trades hands among funk connoisseurs for big bucks. Featured here is the original single which features a bonus dub and instrumental version. Newly remastered.

Ahronovitch is direct and exciting and the title is well borne out by the performances. The recording is brilliant without being aggressively so, and has plenty of weight (with splendid brass sonorities in Night on the Bare Mountain) plus an effective ambience. The Sabre Dance has great energy and the Prokofiev March from Love for three oranges is nicely pointed, and it includes favourites such as the BBC TV Onedin Line theme - the Adagio from Spartacus. In short, this is excellent value and does much to recommend the L.S.O series.Inch(Gramophone). (Tchaikovsky) Inchrecording spectacular, and the balance truthful... fusillade of canon at the end of '1812' is impressively realisticInch (Penguin Guide)
