Hanna Enlof - Bare Bones - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

One of the world's leading exponents of Yiddish and cantorial music, the late lyric tenor and cantor Louis Danto possessed such great technique and overall control that few could match his breathtaking emotional expressivity. In addition to his artistry as a performer, Danto was an avid collector and scholar who possessed one of the world's largest and most important historical collections of Jewish music including rare sheet music, recordings and books. Presented here is a wonderful vintage recording of Danto performing traditional Jewish melodies from Central and Eastern Europe. All selections newly re-mastered.

Following her critically acclaimed 2024 album 'Keeper of the Shepherd,' Hannah Frances rises from the elegy of her decaying roots to reach through the tangled canopy of limbs toward a life and love beyond rupture on her new album 'Nested in Tangles.' Weaving avant-folk, progressive rock, and jazz-composer, vocalist, guitarist, and poet Frances cascades between the deft intimacy and the expansive magnificence of her interior world with the lucidity and incisiveness of both fire and water. Anchored with her signature vocal prowess and percussive polyrhythmic fingerpicking that she established on Keeper of the Shepherd, Frances evolves and challenges her own narratives and musicality opening with the titular instrumental piece that veers into spoken word poetry leading into InchLife's WorkInch which was co-produced and arranged by Daniel Rossen of Grizzly Bear, along with InchThe Space Between.Inch 'Nested in Tangles' is a distinctive body of work radiant in it's artistic freedom, probing the edges and in-betweens of the knotted landscape of memory, attachment, entanglement, and estrangement-seeking to understand the ways we adapt, protect, and preserve ourselves through necessity of survival. 'Nested in Tangles' offers a reflexive portrait of virtuosity and visceral vulnerability-unafraid of intensity, unafraid of tenderness. Hannah Frances has solidified herself as an artist of insurgent intellectual and emotional clarity, fearlessly committed to truth from every dimension of her being. How can we disentangle and re-pattern, reclaim and unify all the fragmented and exiled parts of ourselves? How can we live fully in the wreckage and triumph, in the spaces between? How can we learn to trust in spite of it? This is life's work.
