High School Confidential! - BLU-RAY

Fanning the flames of Eisenhower America's growing paranoia, Jack Arnold's HiGH SCHOOL CONFIDENTIAL! Is the quintessential juvenile delinquency film - celebrating the very S*x-drugs-and-rock'n'roll culture it pretends to condemn. Russ Tamblyn (WEST SIDE STORY) stars as Tony Baker, the new kid at Santa Bellow High, whose cocky attitude and ambitious weed-dealing enable him to infiltrate the gang of a local narcotics boss (Jackie Coogan). But HIGH SCHOOL CONFIDENTIAL! Is much more than a hardboiled crime picture. It's is a pop-culture touchstone, a Rebel Without a Cause without the angst, embellished by the insanely shapely Mamie Van Doren, beat poetry for the hep set, and, of course, the throbbing theme music of Jerry Lee Lewis.

Loaded but miserable in life and marriage, depressed entrepreneur Michael Drake (Richard Horian) found new purpose when he volunteered to become a high school guidance counselor. The four wayward kids he glommed onto, however, might have been better off in detention than with his bizarre brand of mentoring! Cockeyed project for star-director-scripter-vinyl record cleaner marketer Horian co-stars Marlon Jackson (Michael's brother), Eric Douglas (ditto), Susie Scott, Elizabeth Singer, Ronee Blakley. 98 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack English; audio commentary; making-of documentary; featurettes; TV spot; theatrical trailers. Two-disc set.

When Marta (Ariadna Welter) sojourned to her small town in the Sierra Negra to be at the side of her sick aunt, she arrived to find she was too late... and her other aunt (Carmen Montejo) strangely unshaken. As it happens, her tia's under the sway of the bloodsucking Senor Duval (Germán Robles)... who's now wants to add Marta to his collection of undead brides. Chilling effort that launched Mexico's horror cycle of the era also stars Abel Salazar, Mercedes Soler, Alicia Montoya. 95 min.
