Holger Czukay - Cinema - VINYL LP

The music in this box set does indeed demonstrate masterful arrangements of sounds and sources, movement and melody, humour and seriousness, that can well be described as magical. It is also a set of unpredictable keys and ciphers, revealing a unique worldview where high artistic rigour meets continual openness to chance and serendipity. In this, Holger not only cut and pasted music, but time, place and mindsets, when such things in popular culture were not only technically near impossible, but virtually unprecedented. David Sylvian, London, 2016InchI believe Holger more or less invented the art of sampling on Canaxis and brought it to a state of near perfection on Movies. He has always claimed this accolade belonged to Stockhausen as Hymnen was his source of inspiration, but I personally don't agree with him. He brought sampling to the forefront with elan, humour and an amazingly unorthodox technical proficiency. Persian Love remains a touchstone for all who venture into this territory.InchIrmin Schmidt, London, 2011InchHolger is crazy enough to join in with any idea and he is a very passionate musician. His style of bass playing, you would never hear from any other bass player. What I always found absolutely wonderful is his fire. He?s all fire. You work with him and he sort of transmits a sort of passion and euphoric fire, which is absolutely wonderful.InchTracklisting CD/Vinyl 11. Holger Schüring Quintett - Konfigurationen 2.
