The Honeywell 500 CFM indoor evaporative air cooler offers an energy efficient cooling option when the air is hot with low humidity, such as desert areas like the southwestern United States (recommended humidity level is 60% or less for maximum efficiency). Honeywell evaporative air coolers do not require power hungry components like compressors. The low power consumption (only 235 watts) translates into significant savings on energy bills compared to using air conditioners. Just unpack, add water/ice, place near open door or window, plug it in, and use. This unit is ideal for indoor use in open environments with adequate cross ventilation up to 300 square feet. Four fan speeds and oscillating louvers evenly distribute cool air through the honeycomb cooling media while the carbon dust filter cleanses the air. For those living in more humid climates, consider portable air conditioning units or window air conditioners.
Q: what is involved in intalling the conditioner?
A: Have in mind that this is NOT an Air Conditioner. It is an Air cooler. All you would need is to fill the tank with water and plug in the unit to power on.
A: Honeywell does not make any of their swamp coolers anymore. They sold the name to a 3rd party who makes inferior products but slaps the Honeywell name on it. Honeywell will not provide any assistance or service if you have any problems, they basically could care less. And the 3rd party Jmatek is basically useless as well. I would not recommend any Honeywell product at this time because Honeywell no longer oversees the manufacturing or quality control. My honeywell leaked all over and ruined my hardwood floors so I am out floors and $300 bucks. Just save yourself the hassle and go with any other brand or tolerate being hot, its better than a Honeywell!
Q: Should water conditioner be added to humidifier water?
A: undefined
Q: Can you run just the fan without any water in unit?
A: Hello, thank you for your inquiry. Yes, the fan mode can operate without water in the unit. Pressing the MODE button until Fan is illuminated switches the unit to a fan only mode, without evaporative cooling.
Q: It does not need to be vented? Correct?
A: HI Marc, There is no vent or hose vent required. Unlike an air conditioner, no compressor or refrigerant gas is used to cool the air like an air conditioner. Evaporative coolers use the natural process of Evaporation to cool. All that is required is to add water to the tank. It is recommended to keep windows/ door open for adequate circulation of the moist air that is produced from the air cooler. Please note that air coolers cool best in warm, dry locations as the temperature drop is higher with drier air.
