So I’ve been eyeing this Normatec unit for awhile now. I’m 48 and I run 50-60 miles a month. I also do a lot of races from 5k up to 21k. I even do the Spartan runs and other obstacle course mud runs so I was looking for something to help my legs recover after long runs. Without proper recovery it’s hard for me to have back to back long run days of 6+ miles. My legs just don’t recover that quick. Before purchasing this unit my recovery would consist of me stretching and icing my back after a long run and then proper rest for at least 24 hrs before doing another run. My goal for the Normatec 3 is for my legs to recover and not have to wait 1-2 days before my next run. So I decided to put it to the test. I did a 7 mile run and then used the post run routine to see what it was like. The post run routine is 45 min. So I plugged everything up and sat on my sofa and watched a movie during the recovery routine. After the routine my legs felt great. The next day I was able to do a 6 mile run with no issues! Now for more technical information. The unit is large and does make noise during the routine but nothing I found too distracting while watching tv. You will need to download the Normatec app. The app is pretty cool. You can sync the app with any of your fitness/heath apps. I use Strava so I synced them. One you sync your preferred app it will suggest routines based on the activities that you do. The next day after my first run the app suggested a pre warm up routine. I did this routine before goi g out for my run the next day. The pre warm up routine consists of different levels of compression for 15 minutes. I have yet to try the app outside of my home but other reviews have suggested that you need a Wi-Fi connection to use the unit. I will try to see if this is true and then will update my review. You may need to charge the unit for first use. I didn’t. The unit still works while being charged so this is what I did. The unit comes in a large box that I may use to store everything. I may consider buying the backpack but I will see how easy it is to take with me when I travel out of town for my races. So far I love this unit. If you can afford it it is well worth the price!

I am an avid Ultra endurance athlete and was doing an Ironman one week and the next week a 100 mile ultramarathon. Purchased this in that week in between races hoping it would help freshen my legs up for the long run. To be completely honest I thought it would do more. Compression therapy definitely helps with recovery but it didn’t help as much as I thought it would. I thought the pressure of the compression would be a lot more than what it actually provided. Also the battery life on it isn’t that great. You will have to leave it plugged in for the best result. These units are expensive too. I think after tax it was in the $850 ballpark. There are a bunch of other cheaper options out there, and I have no idea about the quality of those products, but if you have never done compression therapy, maybe try one of those before you make this large investment. Ultimately your diet, (with an emphasis on protein/carb intake, Micro nutrients and hydration) and rest will offer the fastest recovery times. All the fancy doo dads like this out here offer some extra help, but not a life changing amount. If you have the money, and you think this slight advantage in recovery can make a difference for you, I would suggest it. Otherwise I would try a cheaper unit just to see how your body reacts before making a large purchase like this. I would rate it 3.3/5 stars

Incredible boots. I work with runners and provide a recovery booth and have only heard great things about these boots! They keep their charge for a long period of time and help your legs feel fresh again. I give runners a 15 minute interval and the battery lasts at least 4 hours every time, if not longer. I love that you can adjust the length of the session and strength.

The Hyperice Normatec is a fantastic product. My family loved it so much that we had to purchase 2 to accommodate my active family children. My daughter uses them after her intense volleyball practices, and my son cannot live without them after his extraneous paintball tournaments. It also helped my daughter recover a lot quicker after a sprained ankle. It's a game-changer. The Normatec is easy to carry in a small duffle bag when traveling.

Leg pain has improved tremendously! I work in healthcare and am either on my feet all day or am sitting and charting all day. I have restless legs when I lay down to sleep. My sleep improved and my pain reduced significantly. Highly recommend! I bought the hip attachment and am planning to also get the arm attchments as well!

This product is defintiely worth it to help circulation and recovery. I have used them almost everyday since purchasing them. Highly recommend!

These compression boots are great! They were recommended from the facility I receive Stretch Therapy. (Rachel at StretchFusion is awesome — tell her Suzi referred you!). Super easy to connect and begin using. BestBuy doesn’t carry the short (or tall) boots which is the only negative thing I can say — would have been a better, more customized fit for me. That said, the standard length did fine. The Normatec 3 is a great compression system with 7 pressure levels (it is important to not get eager and to start with a lower level — level 1 gives quite a bit of pressure). The 5 zones of “zone boost” are especially helpful and I was able to focus additional pressure on my upper quad. The power unit is heavy and obviously durable. The iOS app was nice and quick to set up. With the app, I make adjustments without needing the heavy power unit close. It seems certain I will get great benefit and use from these compression boots!

Every time I would do legs in yeh gym they would be sore for days, even walking would be difficult. This has been such a blessing and helps me recover pretty quickly and my legs feel much better after using it.

The best purchase I have ever made. Helps a lot with recovery after teaching spin classes 3 times a week.

I do heavy strength training 4x per week and these are a must have. I use the legs, hips, and arms every night for recovery so that I am able to train hard every time I go to the gym. The different levels of compression make them wonderful to use for anybody with any type of activity level. These are life changing.

The product is truly incredible for recovery! I am a professional dancer and I take it with me on tour for everyday use! Highly recommended! Able to compact in my carry on!

I'm obsessed with these pants. I use them nightly before bedtime and after bike rides. Can't definitively say yet how theyre affecting my recovery times, performance, etc because I have only been using for 2 weeks and only started picking up my spring training routine this past week.

This is the best compression boot. I bought it and it arrived in just one day which was wonderful.

I am a multi-sport athlete, working out and training 5 to 6 days a week, and I put a lot of physical stress on my body. For me, I need to have a quick recovery so I can continue with my daily tasks. This compression boot system does an excellent job of rapid recovery, maximizing performance, improving training, and overall wellness. When someone exercise, their body builds up lactic acid and other metabolites as byproducts; also, there are microscopic tissue damage and fatigue. All of these happening in the body results in muscle soreness and pain. After a hard training or workout, I sometimes experience difficulty walking (legs feel heavy) and sometimes even sitting down. Compression boots work by helping the body squeeze the lactic acid, inflammation, and all metabolites out of your legs and back into the heart; afterward, they get metabolized and eliminated. Using the system is easy (plug & play), charge the device, download the app, insert the leg into the leg compressor, and attach the connector to the junction box and air outlet. You can use only one leg attachment compressor if you desire, but note that there is the extra step requiring the use of a blocking plug on the hose not being used. One can operate the system with just the control unit, which allows for attachment type selection (arm, hip, or leg), pressure level, ZoneBoost, time adjustment, display screen, and start/stop button. With the app, you get the best experience, with preset routine settings or self-customizable. Available routines/settings: post-workout recovery, post-run recovery, improve your sleep, freshen your legs, activate your legs, long day unwind, pre-run warm up, pre workout warm up. There is also a similar arms routine, but you would need the arm attachment sold separately, which I will get. There are five zones on the leg boot: (1) foot, (2) calf, (3) knee, (4) lower quad, and (5) upper quad. The routine preset setting or manual control allows for Zone Boost, which concentrates or gives extra (time or pressure) to one or more zones. How the system compresses the leg varies by routine. The first pump fills up all the zones in a sequence, and then it releases the air; I think the system feels the legs to know the required pressure. The compression starts from the feet and gradually moves up to the upper thighs. Depending on the selected routine, the compression sequence will vary. Also, the compression creates a pulsation movement from the feet to the upper thighs and repeats this a couple of times. What this compression does is pushes more of the fluids in the extremities up to the upper body, so it gets flushed out. It feels AMAZING! Not exaggerating; my legs feel rejuvenated. Fantastic product to fight muscle soreness and get back in the game; now do more of what you love. Portable, depending on the duration and routine, the battery can give you two or more sessions. The boots are incredibly high-tech material, rugged, and well built. To conclude, the Normatec compression boots make a quick, easy-to-use, portable, and enjoyable muscle recovery.

My family have been active with hiking over the weekends and at the end of day after 10 mile hike this device greatly helped us to recover faster by increasing the circulation and reviving muscles quicker. Just remove the boots from package and connect them to the intuitive controller. Comes precharged with 60% of battery that is good for over 1.5 hours. When using for the first time, start with pressure level of less than 3 at the controller to get a hang of it. It’s like the blood pressure monitor cuff. It uses dynamic air compression to recover sore muscles by increasing the circulation and reduce swelling after rigorous workout or hike. It has 7 levels of compression that can adjusted in app or in the controller. It also has 5 overlapping zones with ZoneBoost and adjustable time options. There are more options when controlled via mobile app. Download the hyperice app from Appstore. Create an account by entering personal details and questionnaire. Once done, turn on the controller for the Bluetooth to be recognized by app. Had 2 firmware updates as soon as it connects and suggest not to turn off your device or phone during the update. You have various routines close to 30 different ones like inflammation management, constant therapy, cold therapy, post work recovery, nighttime relief, hot therapy and so on. You can control the time, start, stop change routines from the app interface. It’s a great device for athlete or anyone who is very active and need to warm up before workout or post workout. It also helps to relax after a long day with its massaging experience. Overall, it has more pros than cons and would recommend to anyone for faster recovery and massage.
