Hyperice - Normatec 3 Legs System - Black

So I’ve been eyeing this Normatec unit for awhile now. I’m 48 and I run 50-60 miles a month. I also do a lot of races from 5k up to 21k. I even do the Spartan runs and other obstacle course mud runs so I was looking for something to help my legs recover after long runs. Without proper recovery it’s hard for me to have back to back long run days of 6+ miles. My legs just don’t recover that quick. Before purchasing this unit my recovery would consist of me stretching and icing my back after a long run and then proper rest for at least 24 hrs before doing another run. My goal for the Normatec 3 is for my legs to recover and not have to wait 1-2 days before my next run. So I decided to put it to the test. I did a 7 mile run and then used the post run routine to see what it was like. The post run routine is 45 min. So I plugged everything up and sat on my sofa and watched a movie during the recovery routine. After the routine my legs felt great. The next day I was able to do a 6 mile run with no issues! Now for more technical information. The unit is large and does make noise during the routine but nothing I found too distracting while watching tv. You will need to download the Normatec app. The app is pretty cool. You can sync the app with any of your fitness/heath apps. I use Strava so I synced them. One you sync your preferred app it will suggest routines based on the activities that you do. The next day after my first run the app suggested a pre warm up routine. I did this routine before goi g out for my run the next day. The pre warm up routine consists of different levels of compression for 15 minutes. I have yet to try the app outside of my home but other reviews have suggested that you need a Wi-Fi connection to use the unit. I will try to see if this is true and then will update my review. You may need to charge the unit for first use. I didn’t. The unit still works while being charged so this is what I did. The unit comes in a large box that I may use to store everything. I may consider buying the backpack but I will see how easy it is to take with me when I travel out of town for my races. So far I love this unit. If you can afford it it is well worth the price!

I am an avid Ultra endurance athlete and was doing an Ironman one week and the next week a 100 mile ultramarathon. Purchased this in that week in between races hoping it would help freshen my legs up for the long run. To be completely honest I thought it would do more. Compression therapy definitely helps with recovery but it didn’t help as much as I thought it would. I thought the pressure of the compression would be a lot more than what it actually provided. Also the battery life on it isn’t that great. You will have to leave it plugged in for the best result. These units are expensive too. I think after tax it was in the $850 ballpark. There are a bunch of other cheaper options out there, and I have no idea about the quality of those products, but if you have never done compression therapy, maybe try one of those before you make this large investment. Ultimately your diet, (with an emphasis on protein/carb intake, Micro nutrients and hydration) and rest will offer the fastest recovery times. All the fancy doo dads like this out here offer some extra help, but not a life changing amount. If you have the money, and you think this slight advantage in recovery can make a difference for you, I would suggest it. Otherwise I would try a cheaper unit just to see how your body reacts before making a large purchase like this. I would rate it 3.3/5 stars

Incredible boots. I work with runners and provide a recovery booth and have only heard great things about these boots! They keep their charge for a long period of time and help your legs feel fresh again. I give runners a 15 minute interval and the battery lasts at least 4 hours every time, if not longer. I love that you can adjust the length of the session and strength.

The Hyperice Normatec is a fantastic product. My family loved it so much that we had to purchase 2 to accommodate my active family children. My daughter uses them after her intense volleyball practices, and my son cannot live without them after his extraneous paintball tournaments. It also helped my daughter recover a lot quicker after a sprained ankle. It's a game-changer. The Normatec is easy to carry in a small duffle bag when traveling.

Leg pain has improved tremendously! I work in healthcare and am either on my feet all day or am sitting and charting all day. I have restless legs when I lay down to sleep. My sleep improved and my pain reduced significantly. Highly recommend! I bought the hip attachment and am planning to also get the arm attchments as well!
