Dies this icemaker work with FRTE 1936 AW?
Answered by FrigidaireSupportGood day, Kat! Based on the Frigidaire information/manual compatibility guidance, yes, the Ice Maker Kit for Select Frigidaire Top Mount Refrigerators can work with the Frigidaire FRTE1936AW Top Freezer Refrigerator, but only if your refrigerator is pre-configured for an ice maker. The kit commonly listed for these top-mount refrigerators (such as the Frigidaire IM117000 Ice Maker Kit / similar top-mount ice maker kits) is designed for select Frigidaire top-freezer models and requires the refrigerator to have the factory provisions for the ice maker (mounting holes, wiring connection, and water valve setup). Before purchasing/installing, check inside the freezer compartment of the FRTE1936AW for: - Ice maker mounting holes/bracket area on the upper left side - A wiring connector for the ice maker - A water inlet connection/provision If those are present, the kit should install. If they are not present, the refrigerator is not compatible with this add-on kit. - Maico
How long should it take for a new ice maker to start dropping ice? Very slow!
Answered by FrigidaireSupportHi there, based on Frigidaire’s official ice maker installation and use instructions for the IM117000 / top-mount refrigerator ice maker kit, the manual states a very consistent startup timeline: - First ice production begins within about 24 hours after installation - Minimal ice is normal during the first 24 hours - It typically takes 1–2 days to fill the ice bin under normal conditions Yes, at the beginning, it often feels extremely slow. The manual explicitly sets expectations that: - It is not meant to produce a full bin quickly on startup - Air in the water line + initial calibration slows the first cycles When it is NOT normal. If after: - 48–72 hours - Freezer is confirmed cold (around 0°F / -18°C) - The water supply is steady, and the filter is good It is still producing only a few cubes or nothing, then it’s likely an installation or flow issue rather than normal startup behavior. - Maico
