A: The compressor operates based on temperature; you set the desired temperature, and it operates until the room temp. is reached. The unit does have a nice timer function. This unit cools off my bedroom (maybe 15' x 12') extremely quickly.

Q: Will this work with vertical Windows and is it easy to install ?
A: Yes, this will work with either vertical or horizontal window configuration. The exhaust discharge tube is easily installed in the window with the hardware. Much like one of those window fans with the expandable 'accordion' things, the plastic hardware fits in the window easily, can expand to accommodate a large number of windows, and comes with a screw to hold the exhaust tube in place, at the desired length.
