This unit was easy to setup and to use. Cool the house down fast. I bought 2 units as I have a large house and our central air went out. For the price of the units and how it worked it was a great buy. Easy to move from location to location as it has wheels. Down side is the exhaust house is to thin and it heats up fast after running. Notice if you don't expand it and leave it how it comes works much better and it doesn't heat up as fast.

I don't know the overall life span to be expected, Needed it in a pinch and the portability and easy install made the most sense out of my available options. I don't plan to use this frequently, and might not even use it of a year or more since its initial unboxing. Still, it gave us 2 weeks of cool air this summer when our heat pump broke. And we have a room that doesn't cool as well, especially when multiple people are in it. So my use is not everyday. While the temp was always set at 70 degrees, the best it got the room temp down to was 80, but it was a cool 80 within the air being blown out, and quite pleasant considering the option of 90+ outside. The remote is a huge plus, if i needed to turn off the fan to talk to someone on the phone it came in handy, as well as being lazy and not getting out of bed when it got too cool at night.

I've been using this product for several weeks now, and cannot be happier. The cooling capacity is phenomenal; it works for my bedroom (maybe 15' x 12') extremely well, and I sometimes use it (in conjunction with a fan) to help cool my kids' bedroom. *For a 10,000 BTU unit, with a higher amperage motor/compressor, the price could not be beat by its competitors. *The remote control is very convenient. *It cools my bedroom off very quickly. *The louvers on the air discharge oscillate vertically, such that cool air is discharged towards the ceiling as well as towards the floor. *The Owner's Manual is clear and concise. *Setup (the exhaust out of the window) and operation of the unit is very simple. ---I wish this unit was available in black.

I purchased this unit to replace my 8k BTU Frigidaire portable AC that I had also purchased new. I was not sure I would notice a difference between 8k &10k BTU, but I could tell instantly that this unit performed better. I have a small 1 bedroom apartment in Tucson. And this AC does the trick! The front vents are motorized and can oscillate or remain stationary. It has very nice features included with the remote as well. The display will show ambient air temperature as well as set temperature. The fan remains on but the compressor will turn on and off depending on the room temperature and thermostat. With all AC units it is recommended that you run the fan for at least 10 to 15 minutes before shutting down to reduce the risk of mold. While I do live in a very dry climate I do not need to drain this unit. The heat exhaust that runs out the window evaporates the water in the process. However, I have read that in extremely humid climates you may need to drain the reservoir periodically. I fortunately have never needed to. I do recommend that you purchase the 2 or 4 year protection plan, especially considering that there are multiple motorized parts. While it's not as cosmetically designed as the Frigidaire 8k unit, it does perform better. I have about 460 sq. ft. to cool and this does a great job. I will buy this product again, and I do recommend it to others.

My room was always super hot during the summer after I picked this up no matter how hot it was I was able to keep it as cold as i wanted. I like the portable units much better then the standard window units.

This was bought to cool bedroom upstairs. Super easy setup. Unpacked and setup in 10 minutes. Gets cold quick. It is a little loud. Have to turn tv up when it is on in a 12x12 room. Love all the features, timer, fan, dehumidifier. Would buy again. This was a nice cheaper alternative to other more expensive brand names.

Cools things nicely as well as having a good fan but causes the power fuse to blow if using with gaming computer

I recently purchased a New Insignia 10,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner, i was a little skeptical at first but i read the reviews and they sounded great so i decided on this model. And now i have used it for a few weeks when needed in the hot heat days here and it works great. I am very impressed, and easy to set up in any room in the house i am in at the time and want to cool down. Great machine for me :)

needed a more powerful unit for the loft bedroom. this one is attractive, easy to set up and runs without excessive noise. I turn it on at 6pm to take the accumulated heat out of the loft. Doesn't take long to cool things down and then keep them cool for a great night's sleep.

Cools nicely, moves easily! It does remove moisture from the air and that must be drained from the unit - it tells you when it needs to be emptied. Move it to a solid floor, pull the plug and it will drain into a pan... Have a towel handy to mop up a bit...

This air conditioner is perfect for staying cool. The unit is quiet and get cool instantly. The exhaust installation was surprisingly easy to do with little tools required. I am planning on gwtting a few more of these for additional rooms.

It does its job. I have it in a garage to just help keep the garage survivable in the southern California summer time, it rarely will get below 80 with it running, and it is undersized for a large 3.5 car garage, but i usually just have it pointed towards whatever im working on, and it keeps me cool, but it does blow really cold and the vents swinging does help distribute the air.

The price is awesome for this size of portable AC unit. I have many other Insignia electronics and never had a problem with any of them. AC unit even comes with a remote.
