Jesse Malin - Outsiders - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

New York Before The War is Jesse Malin's first studio album in 5 years. Malin has made a record about the 'daily battle we have to keep the human spirit alive.' He adds 'I tried to carve out a place where I could once again exist and sat down and wrote the rest of this record.' Early recording sessions began with Don DiLego in rural Virginia and finished at NYC's Magic Shop and Flux Studios. Co-produced by Malin and Derek Cruz, and engineered and mixed by Brian Thorn (David Bowie, Arcade Fire), 'New York Before The War' features a star-studded list of special guests including Peter Buck, Craig Finn, Alejandro Escovedo, Wayne Kramer, and more. The core band for the record features Catherine Popper (Jack White, Ryan Adams, Puss N Boots), Randy Schrager (Scissor Sisters), Derek Cruz (St. Marks Social), Don DiLego (Beautiful Small Machines) and Paul G aristo (Psychedelic Furs)

2014 debut album from the acclaimed Irish musician. Following up his two EPs, he co- produced the new album with Ron Kirwan (PJ Harvey and Depeche Mode). Tastemakers and critics have wholeheartedly embraced Hozier's spirited and soulful sound. He's drawn praise from NPR, New York Magazine, KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic, MTV Buzzworthy, Consequence of Sound, and more.

When Jesse Ahern walks onstage, he looks like a regular guy - albeit one with a Gretsch guitar strapped across his body and an anchor tattoo under his right eye. As he tears through his set, easily rousing brand new crowds to shout his choruses back in his face, it's clear Jesse could be everybody's friend. Hailing from humble beginnings in Quincy, Massachusetts, Ahern's tunes hold high the clenched fists of the working class. Others put on full display the raw, open heart of a man who is dedicated to love, and has known enough loss to cherish what he has at home. Still others reveal the tender, protective arms of a father who misses his kids when he's off touring the world. On tour, Ahern stands before a giant backdrop emblazoned with the words 'Roots Rock Rebel'. Three words that proclaim the truth about his music, and about the man himself. That's why he chose those words as the title for his new album, produced by Ted Hutt (Dropkick Murphys, Gaslight Anthem). Ahern has spent the last four years touring the world, sharing stages with Dropkick Murphys, Rancid, Chuck Ragan, Frank Turner, and Jaime Wyatt. With the of Roots Rock Rebel, Ahern will travel many more miles around the globe, converting more first-time crowds into future longtime fans.
