Sunnyland Slim - Legendary Bop Rhythm & Blues Classics - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Mississippi native Albert Luandrew, better known as blues pianist and vocalist Sunnyland Slim, first came into prominence in Chicago in the late 1940's fronting a band that included Muddy Waters on guitar. Early in 1954 he cut these four classic tracks for Al Benson's Parrot tag subsidiary Blue Lake, which are among the best rare blues tracks of a career which spanned almost five decades. The musicians supporting Slim's piano and vocals on these sessions are thought to be Snooky Pryor on harmonica; Floyd Jones and Eddie Taylor on guitars for InchGoin' Back to MemphisInch and InchDevil Is a Busy ManInch. Same lineup minus Pryor is featured on InchBassologyInch and InchShake It BabyInch with the addition of Big Crawford on bass and an unknown harp player. Classic sides, newly remastered. Album Tracks 1. Going Back to Memphis 2. Devil Is a Busy Man 3. Shake It Baby 4. Bassology

Accompanying Griffin's tenor sax are Junior Mance piano; Wilbur Ware bass; and Wilbert InchBuddyInch Smith drums. All selections newly remastered. Album Tracks 1. I Cried for You 2. Satin Wrap 3. J.B. Lenoir - Legendary Bop Rhythm & Blues Classics - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

This album of vintage J. B. Lenoir material should be something for devotees of Chicago blues everywhere to celebrate and enjoy. He gave expression through his music and songwriting to the aspirations and everyday predicaments of the common man, though with an uncommon voice and talent in his case. J. B. is rightly still renowned as the most topical modern Chicago blues man. The sessions presented here were recorded in 1954 and '55 at Universal Studios in Chicago. Four singles were issued, of which two, cemented J. B.'s fame. InchMama Talk to Your DaughterInch was an infectious, accessible and popular boogie piece, which has become synonymous with it's creator. Much more controversial was InchEisenhower Blues,Inch of which two takes are included on this wonderful collection. All selections newly remastered. Album Tracks 1. Mama, Talk Tour Daughter 2. Eisenhower Blues 3. Sitting Down Thinking 4. What Have I Done 5. Mama, Your Daughter's Gonna Miss Me 6. I'm in Korea 7. We Got to Realize (We Can't Go on This Way) 8. I Lost My Baby 9. Man, Watch Your Women 10. Give Me One More Shot 11. Fine Girls 12. I'm Gonna Die Someday 13. Eisenhower Blues (Take 1)
