Just when I think I cannot find a better portable speaker, JLAB makes an even better one than their last one. The new JLAB Epic Portable Party Speaker has it all and produces a terrific customizable sound. It takes approximately five (5) hours to fully charge the speaker, but you also get 16-hours of Bluetooth playing time. The sound is solid as it is produced through 100 Watts of power. This wattage is a combination of the four (4) 10 W full-range drivers, and the 60-Watt active subwoofers. There is also a 5.25” passive radiator to boost the base performance. Together these create 360 degrees of lab quality sound whose clarity is really, really good. There are even preset EQ sound modes that can be adjusted on top of the console or in the APP. Both are easy to use to customize the sound further. The top controls include an on/off button, controls for moving forward or backward on the album for different song selections, controls to turn the RGB LED lights on or off and to customize them with the music, a LabSync control button which will allow you to connect up to 100 JLAB speakers, and an EQ mode button which will allow you to cycle through the EQ4 modes, of Signature, Balance, Bass Boost, or Custom There is also a volume dial with a push pause button in the center. All of these features also include the fact that the speaker is IPX6 Waterproof. This means that you cannot toss it in the pool, but it can be near a pool or the beach. Portability is aided with the solid, sturdy handle on the top of the speaker. There are other features that allow you to add auxiliary components. The speaker supports 30W PD (Power Delivery) quick charging which helps manage its large 9000 mAh battery The charger uses a USB-C in connection. There is also a USB-C out for charging your mobile device which can be done while the speaker is playing. Also hidden behind the waterproof rubber gasket on the top of the rear of the speaker are sources to connect with AUX I or ¼” inputs, including a microphone and headphone. When you are finished charging, or using these inputs, always ensure the gasket is securely back in space if used around a pool, beach, or water. This is the only way your speaker can be near water and not damaged. The APP controls also have more detailed adjustments to the equalizer and a toggle on and off for setting the speech mode. Speech mode voice prompts announce things like Power on, Bluetooth connected or battery full, and when you cycle through the EQ4 modes, of Signature, Balance, Bass Boost, or Custom using the dedicated EQ button, a voice will announce which mode is currently active It will also announce LabSync when entering multi-speaker sync modes to confirm it has successfully entered Cast or Receive mode. Firmware updates and registration of your speaker can also be done in this section of “My Devices” in the APP. The speaker can be switched from Music to Movie mode if desired, and this and the feature of monitoring the battery saver can also be found in the APP. The speaker is preset to auto turn off after no music is played for 30 minutes, but this can be reset from 5 – 60 minutes or set to always on. The LED RGB lighting can be set to turn off when the battery hits 10 percent of its charging capacity, but this too can be set up to 75 percent or always on. In the APP you can see the charging capacity of the battery, which is particularly useful. The JLAB Epic Party Portable Speakers has Multilingual Support. It is capable of supporting announcements in multiple languages. This feature can be toggled on or off under the “My Devices” section in the APP. The JLAB Epic Party Portable speaker is so easy to get up, running and ready to use. All that needs to be done is charge the speaker with the included 30W PD (Power Delivery) quick charger, pair the speaker with your mobile device’s Bluetooth, and let the updated firmware install itself, which is fairly automatic. It is that simple and it all happened for me without any glitches at all. This is an excellent portable party speaker. This speaker carries a 2 Year-Limited Warranty against manufacturer defects in materials and workmanship of the speaker. . This does not include misuse of the product.

I was looking for a new speaker for when I’m washing the cars, tinkering in the workshop, and enjoying our new patio. With this speaker’s splash proof rating, it should be fine if it gets a little accidental spray from the car wash hose or a sudden shower on the patio. I asked JLab support about the rating listed on the website, it was listed as both IPX6 and IP56. Their response was as follows; “Hello, Thank you for reaching out! The Epic party speaker has an IP rating of IP56. So it's protected from limited dust ingress and from high-pressure water jets from any direction. Thank you, Isabel JLab Support Team” First thing I noticed after unboxing is that this speaker is stout, weighs about 10.5 lbs. It has a large handle making it easy to carry. The battery life with the LED display on is rated at 14 hours, it increases to 16 hours with the lighting off. I haven’t drained the battery yet but that looks to be tracking about right. The LED display has six different flash modes, several pulse in sync with the beat. Of course, you buy a speaker for the sound and this 100 watt powerhouse delivers that. With a 60 watt 5.25” active subwoofer and 5” passive woofer you can feel and four 10 watt 2.5” speakers firing out in all directions you can fill a house with sound. Using the JLab app you can select from three preset equalizer settings or set up your own custom preset. A button on top of the speaker allows you to cycle through the choices as well. The app also lets you adjust the speed, brightness, and colors of the LED display and there’s a button on the speaker to cycle through the options. The intuitive dial does double duty for both volume when rotated and play/pause when pressed. There is a usb-c output on the speaker if you need to top off your mobile device and a 1/4” mic (or guitar?) input. This speaker is LabSync compatible so you can synchronize the sound and lights for up to 100 JLab Party speakers. I understand that if you have two you can designate each as a separate left or right channel. I think you’ll find this a good choice for tailgating, BBQs, house parties or just chillin’ on the deck.

This JLab Epic Party Speaker with Bluetooth and RGB Lighting is the perfect setup for a party. It’s loud and the sound is crystal clear. The bass is just like it’s supposed to be too. What’s in the box? The JLab Epic Party Speaker, power adapter and paperwork. Setup: Setup couldn’t be easier with the JLab App. Install the app from your smartphones App Store and follow the prompts to install your JLab Epic Party Speaker. The JLab App is where you can setup and customize your Epic Party Speaker and RGB lighting. This is also where you can set the EQ4 to your desired setting. The lighting has different settings so you can adjust it to match the music or the mood. Is your party at the pool, beach or lake? No worries! The JLab Epic Party Speaker is waterproof!! I mean don’t throw it in the pool or lake, but if it gets splashed a few times, it won’t hurt it. It’s waterproof to the IPX6 standard, which means it can get rained on and splashed but it’s not submersible. The lighting is really cool looking. You can adjust the colors, the speed, the motion and more. This JLab Epic Party Speaker is able to sync up to 100 JLab speakers together. Now that’s a party! Speaker Specs: This speaker has 100W, 4 full-range drivers and a woofer. The controls are on the top of the speaker. It is rechargeable and you get about 15 hours of play time. The speaker is 360° so there is high quality sound coming out of the speaker all the way around it. The lights are at the top below the handle. The lights are so cool. The handle is very sturdy and it has to be because this speaker is kinda heavy. It weighs a little over 11 pounds. This speaker is great and I highly recommended it!

The JLab Epic Party Speaker lives up to its namesake. It offers big spacious sound that matches its large size and weight. Party speakers occupy the category of Bluetooth speakers that are large enough to be used in a large area but portable enough to be moved around. As others have mentioned this speaker is surprisingly large and heavy. There is a heavy duty handle in the top of the speaker which allows it to be moved by hand. Included in the box with the speaker is a 30 watt USB-C charger. The first step is to download the JLab App and pair the speaker to your device. Using the App is not required but not using the App will strip the user of useful features like the equalizer. The next step was a firmware update that took less than 5 minutes. Once paired get ready to enjoy music the way it is deigned to be heard. Loud and big. There are a few equalizer presets that can be selected to and custom 10 band setting. The default equalizer setting is JLab Signature which most people will find pleasing. My personal preference is Bass Boost. Music is full range and as bass heavy. It goes very loud before it starts to distort. Overall the speaker sounds fabulous and most people will be very pleased with the sound. The heavy duty internal battery is rated at up to 16 hours. I used it for a few days and the battery barely budged so I believe this rating to be accurate. If you need a big sounding party speaker this model is highly recommended. It works well and sounds great. It provides everything you would want in a party speaker.

Bring the party with this JLab Epic Party portable speaker! We needed a speaker that could put out the sound and fill even an outdoor space. This one fits the bill. I will say that this is a fairly large speaker with some weight to it. It does weight over 10lbs and stand just about 11.5 inches tall. I would still consider this portable as it can be easily carried. The build Quality on this speaker is fantastic. It has a large metal handle, rubberized top and buttons, lighting bar, and is fabric wrapped. It has a fairly solid feeling composite base with rubber feet. Nothing on this feels cheaply made at all. I was very impressed by how solid this feels. The handle itself is extremely solid and will be perfect when transporting it from place to place. The 360 degree sound that comes from this speaker is excellent. It consists of four 2.5” full-range drivers, one 5” passive woofer and one 5.25” subwoofer that is powered by 100watts of power. There are preset equalizer settings and a customizable setting (accessed in the JLab app). I tend to leave it on Bass Boost as that is a good all-around setting that doesn't fade out in larger rooms or outdoors. This has some other really cool features other that just great sound. To start the lighting is a great party touch. There are preset lighting modes that include fading in and out, rotating, and a sound reactive mode that pairs and moves with the music (this is my favorite). If you have multiple JLab speakers, you can pair them for an even bigger sound experience. The speaker can act as a power bank to charge your devices, Aux input, and a mic input as well, however I was not able to try out this functionality. The Bluetooth pairing worked seamlessly for me so I was up and running with music in no time! I like the app functionality as it gives you full control of all the speaker features right on your phone. Battery life is very good. JLab claims it has 14+ hours of battery life with the lights on. I've had this running for several listening sessions and I have plenty of life left. You can also adjust power saver settings in the app with is very easily done. So far I am very happy with this speaker and I know for sure it will get lots of uses during cookouts, bonfires, camping, and all the fun activities that need some great music to bring it all together! I would definitely recommend this speaker to anyone looking for a robust, well built, and great sounding portable speaker.

I have owned many Bluetooth speakers over the years, ranging from very small to very large. This is one of the bigger ones I have used and the first from JLab. I was very impressed with the quality despite the reasonable price point. Pros: - Sound quality was excellent when using the Bass boost preset. I did not like how audio sounded with the "balanced" preset. You can also create a custom equalizer setting which is nice. - Battery life was fantastic. It's rated to last for 16+ hours and you can stretch out the battery life if you choose not to use the lighting feature. - The lighting feature is excellent for when you want to add some ambiance to a party. A single button press allows you to toggle through various presets. - The portability of this speaker is excellent. While it's fairly heavy (11 pounds), the convenient handle allows you to easily carry it anywhere. It's excellent for garage parties, campsites, outdoor activities, etc. Cons: - This isn't the speaker for you if you are looking for something that easily fits on a shelf. I was very pleased with this speaker and found it to not only be priced very competitively, but JLab was able to be competitive with pricing while also having a high quality product.

The JLab Epic Party Speaker absolutely blew us away. After trying multiple speakers this size over the years, I have learned to keep my expectations in check. I found all of the speakers I've tried to be good but not great. They all had their strengths but ultimately suffered from one or more limitations. This Bluetooth JLab speaker is now in a class of its own as far as I'm concerned. SOUND QUALITY: 100 watts of 360 degree sound is not something you expect to actually deliver on the promise but this thing does exactly that. It fills the backyard completely with rich, full sound and there is zero distortion even at max volume. The bass is where this speaker really punches above its weight class. There is a 5.25 inch downward firing subwoofer paired with a 5 inch passive radiator and four 2.5 inch full range drivers spread around the unit and gives you solid 360 sound. Highs are crisp, mids are present and the low end hits hard without muddying everything else up. Honestly, the mids could be a little better at higher volumes bit I'm just nitpicking at this point. APP AND LIGHTING: The JLab app is really well done and adds a ton of value to the overall package. You get full control over the RGB lighting including 6 different animations, individual color adjustments, animation speed and brightness. On the audio side you have three EQ presets including JLab Signature, Balanced and Bass Boost, plus a full 10 band custom EQ if you want to really dial things in. The EQ padjusment alone is worth downloading the app for. Not many speakers in this price range give you that much control over the sound profile. The LabSync feature inside the app also lets you set any JLab speaker as left or right channel so if you grab a second unit you get true stereo separation, which is a really cool touch. BATTERY: The only minor gripe here is the battery life. 16 plus hours sounds great on paper and it is fine in practice but when you factor in running the RGB lighting it drops to around 14 hours. Not a dealbreaker by any means but if you are running a long event you will want to keep the charger handy. At least it charges via USB-C and a 30 watt charger is included so you are back up quickly. I think you can also charge other devices off the speaker but I have not had an opportunity to test this yet. DURABILITY: On the durability side the Epic Party Speaker carries an IP56 waterproof rating which means it is built to handle real world conditions. Splashes, spills, drinks getting knocked over near it, light rain, none of that is a concern. We have used it outside multiple times without giving it a second thought and that peace of mind genuinely adds to the experience. VERDICT: JLab has completely changed what I expect from a portable bluetooth speaker this size. The sound quality, the app, the build, the lighting and the connectivity options all come together in a way that none of the other speakers I've tried have managed to pull off. LOVE THIS SPEAKER!

The JLab Epic Party Speaker with Bluetooth and RGB lighting is nothing short of literally, music to my ears. This small-ish form factor speaker has outstanding sound, impeccable bass, can be very LOUD, and has almost unbelievable Bluetooth range. This portable Bluetooth speaker offers 100 watts of full circle, 360 sound -- and it sounds amazing. The bass can literally cause glass breakers on a security system to be triggered (oops!) and is deep, rich, and full. The sound range on this Epic Party Speaker is broad - from streaming oldies to rap/hip-hop, it does not disappoint, especially at this price point. I have two other portable speakers by another brand -- more than 2 times the price -- that don't sound as good or provide such good range from the music source. I would estimate this speaker was about 80 feet from my iPhone and the sound was still strong, and not at all distorted or glitchy. The customizable RGB lighting isn't really my style -- but, it's indeed fun to watch especially since it synchronizes with the music being played. All customizable in the app -- which is also fantastic. While I don't have a pool, ocean, or lake nearby, this JLab claims this is relatively waterproof as far as splashes or mist. I certainly wouldn't submerge it in water, but it's a nice beach-friendly feature. Although I only have one of these portable speakers, I read in the FAQs that it can be synchronized with other Epic Party speakers if you have a large event or party. For the purposes of about 1/3 acre back yard, one is "epically" sufficient. Highly recommended, especially with such a good app and at this price point!

I’ve had many JLab headsets and have always been happy with them especially considering the price, their new party speaker delivers on that same premise. When you first take it out of the package, you’ll be impressed with just how robust and well made it feels. Connecting your device can be done like any other Bluetooth device or you can set it up with the app which allows for customization of the sound, lights and other features. You get three preset EQ settings and one custom EQ setting. You get two USB-C ports, one out and one in and you can charge your device from one of them. You also get a headphone jack and a microphone port which gives you the ability to use the speaker for Karaoke. Sound wise I use the bass boast EQ setting as I think it delivers just the right balance for all types of music. With the said if you’re into Rap or like bass heavy stuff the speaker doesn’t deliver real deep bass, it’s not boomy but it’s not real deep. You can sync the lights with the music or turn them off. The device also can be linked with other party speakers. If you’re looking for a small portable speaker for a tailgate, pool party or just the backyard the JLab epic party speaker is a great option.

With the summer months coming up, I was looking forward to enjoying time on the patio with friends. I have used Bluetooth speakers in the past to provide music while entertaining and wanted to get a Bluetooth speaker with more presence. To meet this need I picked up the JLAB Epic Sound Bluetooth speaker. This is a real party speaker and has the flashing lights to prove it. This is a 100-watt monster that has four full range speakers, 60-watt active subwoofer and 5.25 passive radiator. At 16 inches tall and 8 inches wide and 11 pounds, it isn’t small at all and provides plenty of sound! On the back of the unit are the connections for a microphone, mini jack input and a charging port for another device and the Epic Sound’s charging port. Both charging ports are USB-C which seem to be the standard now. On the top are the controls for volume, power, light control, EQ and linking other Epic Sound units together. You can link up to 100 Epic Sound units together. One feature that is handy is the ability to use a microphone with the Epic Sound making it a PA system while listening to music. For anyone using the Epic Sound around a pool or water the unit is waterproof! The EQ provides 3 preset EQ settings and one that is customizable using the JLAB app. Setup is very straightforward when using the JLAB app. Download the app to your smart phone and follow the directions to get started. It is very easy to complete the setup this way. I have been using the Epic Sound for days and the battery seems to sip power. JLAB says the battery playtime is up to 16 hours. This is definitely a party size speaker! Positive aspects Sound that fires in all directions Waterproof Long battery playtime Easy connectivity to sources Sound that comes from all directions Outstanding bass Challenges Sound quality favors the midrange and may become a bit fatiguing when played very loud for long periods of time. The EQ can help but it doesn’t seem to alleviate it completely. Portability is a plus and a minus because of the weight. Final thoughts The Epic Sound is a very good Bluetooth speaker that could be a great one with a bit of tuning to balance the highs and the mids. With that in mind I would still recommend it for indoors or outdoor parties!

TL;DR — It sounds good, has decent battery life, but can only pair to one device at a time, which causes issues if you want to share the speaker with family or friends. At least the pairing process is relatively painless. ***What I Loved*** -Lighting and Aesthetics: When I first unboxed the speaker, I was pretty impressed with the look of the speaker and the RGB lighting isn’t bad. It’s actually quite good all things considered. It has a faux high end look to it which I liked, but all of the materials felt good. The buttons were tactile, the volume dial was nice, and the metal handle gave it a nice touch. Also the mesh cloth around the base gave it a premium feel. -Build and Portability: Since this is a "Party" speaker, it was very easy to move around. My daughters and I had a “Candy Party” just for fun where we danced around and ate candy and colored coloring pages while the wife was out. Super fun. I can see me bringing this around to birthday parties, hanging out at the park, etc. It’s light (but solid feeling) and has pretty good battery life. -Initial Sound Impressions: My initial impression of the sound was very positive. It has good bass, and good mids, but you can tweak it using the in app EQ to your liking. I did notice that once you started messing with some of the settings, it can warp the audio in a very weird way. Luckily there’s a default option to bring everything back to normal. ****Opportunities for Improvement**** -Bluetooth Pairing: My wife and I both have phones and when she wanted to play outside with the girls, we paired the device up to her phone which immediately kicked my phone off and wouldn’t pair to it anymore. The only way around this was to pair it again to my phone which immediately disabled her phone. So it’s not really a “party” speaker in a sense. What I’d want from the next iteration of this speaker is to allow multiple pairing and have the app do more with that, and have the app sort out which device gets priority or do some fun party collab thing. -Interface and Buttons: The controls are super simple to understand. The only one I didn’t know was the link button. Doing a little bit of research, turns out you can pair multiple speakers up to it for more audio in more places. I didn’t get to test this out, but it would be super awesome if you can create a surround sound setup with it, or even stereo. -App Integration: The app is pretty basic, but it allows you to configure RGB, EQ, and do some firmware updates. It’s not needed for use at all and the app doesn’t require an account which is a major plus in my book. *****The Verdict***** I like this speaker, it’s bigger than I thought it’d be, but at the same time, it packs a lot of battery in it, good sound, with wired mic capabilities. The downside of this is only one device can be paired to it at a time. Which is a bummer. I don’t have much experience with other party speakers, but with this I don’t need to look elsewhere, this gets a solid recommendation for me. If and when it comes time to get another, I’ll definitely be checking out another JLAB version.

For the last week, I've been testing the JLAB Epic Bluetooth Party Speaker. Overall, it is an excellent speaker with superior sound quality and a few minor flaws. Highs are nice and sharp, vocals are clean, midrange performance is good, and the bass is strong, especially with low- to slightly faster-tempo music such as R&B, hip-hop, country, salsa, merengue, acoustic, rock, or pop. Other great features include the sturdy construction and the feel of the materials. The four 360-degree speakers do a great job ensuring a nice, even sound distribution in all directions. The party light on top is a fun, customizable feature that dances well with the beat. The Bluetooth connection is quick and maintains a solid connection from anywhere in my yard. I also like that it has a full-size mic port for those backyard karaoke nights. However, there are some limitations. At its highest volume—roughly 85% and above—it suffers from distortion. With fast-tempo, bass-heavy music like techno, the mids and bass struggle to keep pace (but this can be corrected with some tuning of the equalizer). Also, Bluetooth only connects to one device at a time and requires re-pairing with every device change. That said, this is a party speaker that punches above its weight in sound quality, and I would recommend it, especially for low- to medium-tempo music.

This is a somewhat niche product, that I imagined I would have purchased immediately when I was in my late teens or early 20s. Then I find myself trending back towards it again as a host of gatherings outside, on the beach, on the boat, on the deck, often while entertaining, and wanting the sound to match the environment. JLab has always felt a little bit like a white label brand, with their design being a unique to them style, but just striking me as just a bit parts bin techy. This speaker is definitely a standout, and when compared in price to it's competitors, it stands out even farther. The size and weight make this not a casual occurance. You have to WANT to dedicate the space to a speaker this big. The lights and connectivity make it all a feature worth having. The large downward facing driver makes this speaker absolutely boom when placed on high mass solid surfaces. I might reflect off of a wooden or aluminum deck and make it sound tinny, but man can it put out some sound. I like the tactile controls with simple labels and indicator lights. The party lights require the app to control, but that's more or less to be expected at this size and price point. At 11 pounds and 100 watts, this isn't a trifle to be thrown around, but that does ensure a decent battery life and build quality. The microphone input and multiple USB C jacks were a surprising extra I didn't expect to find, just adding more value to this speaker. Overall it's a great device for backyard parties and places where 360 sound is needed.

This Bluetooth speaker is awesome. The build quality is outstanding as the unit is extremely solid. The large handle is important as this is a very heavy unit due to the device's structure which allows the impressive bass capabilities and no fuzzy noise problems from vibration. The booming sound is crystal clear. I was able to easily pair the unit with a few different brands of TV's as well as my cell phone. The pairing process is immediate and a voice tracks your pairing progress. The JLAB app is a must since it provides easy controls to dial in your preferences for lighting and equalization including bass settings. There is a knob on the unit to make it easy to adjust volume levels as well. The device can handle very loud audio with no distortion. You can also use the app to choose color patterns to add a lot of fun while you listen. The device can contain a charge to play for over 16 hours but this drops to 14 hours if you use the lighting effects. There is even a unique USB-C output port that can be used to charge your phone. A 1/4 inch microphone jack is also on the unit so you can use it for a PA system. You can utilize the 'Labsync' capabilities to connect up to 100 speakers together for a large party. I highly recommend this large 100 watt five-speaker unit that also includes a passive subwoofer as well as the customizable lights.

The JLab - Epic Party Speaker is a solid piece of equipment overall but expected more oomph facture. Out of the box the appearance of the JLab is sleek having the cylinder design with a 360 RGB light bar and operating buttons on top. The volume adjustment knob is large, allowing for ease of adjustment even in dim environments. The RBG light bar is able to be controlled via the app with preset variation of lights or more specific settings - my daughter is a fan of the RBG portion, adding to the party effect. My critique of the light bar is that the lights themselves are partially recessed behind a clear protective layer, the aesthetic just feels slightly off. The speaker has the ability to sync within the app to match other JLab devices with this technology. The top control buttons are sturdy, pairing with Bluetooth was simple and once downloaded the app there was not issue connecting the device - there was an initial firmware update that took about 5-minutes. The sound is 360, having no particular dead space noticeable in projecting sound within the room. The equalizer default was a bit dimming to more party/bass music in my opinion but this was easy overall to adjust, with this being said the sound is present, projects well and volume is able to be turned up nicely to facilitate the party aspect of this device; however, I expected a bit more robust bass capabilities from a "Epic" party speaker - this is more personal preference, but be aware. The speaker itself is easy to move, decent weight to it which helps avoid unexpected tip overs. There is waterproofing aspect, reducing outdoor worry. An added bonus is there is a USB-C output to allow for charging, which I had not initially noticed - when it comes to outdoor use, this is a great added feature. Battery life is reported to be up to 16 hours, I have not burned down battery with normal/routine use prior to next charge as of yet. Another nice feature is the ability to use a microphone, to allow for casual singing/announcements. Side note - when turning off the device you have to hold the power button for about 4-5 seconds before power off, which is random to mention; however, both my wife and I individually noticed this in that the power off delay is slower than expected. Overall, the speaker is solid built, durable speaker with a good size and adequate sound transmission in larger spaces with a prolonged battery life, ability to charge devices and ease of movement.

It seems Bluetooth speakers are getting bigger and bigger. I'm invested into a few different brands from cheap to expensive and the JLAB Epic Party lands somewhere in the middle of the price range, maybe pushing a tad to the higher end but that's okay. For a sub-$200 speaker that has a lot of built in capability this is worth the $189.99 price tag. If you can catch it on sale then even better. So what makes it worth the money? Sound quality is really good especially considering that this may be a good pool party speaker with an IP56 waterproof rating. The features that make it a good value... besides the Bluetooth connectivity you also can connect a source via the 2.5mm auxiliary input jack that hides behind a waterproof access cover. Additionally there is a 3.5mm stereo input jack that supports a standard microphone or guitar jack. The built in controls are all on top. An on/off button that doubles for Bluetooth pairing, more buttons for forward/back track control, a big dial for pause/play which doubles as a volume control, a button to cycle through the built in equalizer settings and 1 custom setting (although I wish there was more than 1 custom setting)and another for LED light show control that toggles you through a handful of pre-made styles. The last button is LabSync that allows you to pair additional JLab Bluetooth speakers together for immersive sound. Battery light is at a decent 16 hours or more of play time, longer than any party I've been at... LOL. When you use the JLAB app you get remote control of all the features and the ability to set your own equalizer settings. Better control gets you a better experience. Now, I'm not sure who is going to fork over for multiple JLAB speakers so the LabSync feather might not be a good selling point for most but if you are into that sorta thing then its a solid point. I think the overall product gives you a good 360° sound quality at 100 watts with a good bass boost, the flash of LEDs for night time or dark room partying or mood setting, and having the ability to use it as a cheap PA or guitar amp, on the fly, may make this the right choice for you.

This review is for the JLab Epic Party Speaker with bluetooth and RGB lighting. This JLab party speaker truly is an epic speaker. Trunning any gathering in to a party. Any one can connect to it with bluetooth so eveyone can be the DJ and bring the party to life. The battery life is great, On a single charge we used it most of the weekend. From the garage to pool side, It sounds great. Has very bass. And goes louder than we need in our backyard. This little unit pack a big sound and color changing lights around the top. From the speaker it self you can control alot of thing after its connected to a phone. You can turn the volume up or down and skip songs change the lighting all with out picking up your phone. It has a handle on top that make it very convenient to carry and move around on the go. On the back of the unit you have two USb-C ports, a 3.5mm port and a port for a microphone. You charge the unit with one of the USB-C ports. I have many chargers that work on this but it dose come with it's own.

The JLab Epic Party speaker is JLab’s take on the Bluetooth “party speaker” genre. It’s a solid speaker with excellent features and very good, not great, sound. While mid-sized, it is easy to carry with the included handle and the waterproof and dustproof design makes it suitable even for pool / beach environments. Bluetooth connection is simple, and the Epic party also accepts inputs from ¼” and microphone jacks, allowing you to connect devices or use it as a portable PA system. An app is available for download, and it is essential to get the most out of the unit, as it provides easy control over the sound and lighting effects. The moving light patterns can create the desired party effect, and the app allows you to control the hue, pattern, and speed of the lights to create different effects. The lights do not activate different colors with different frequencies, but instead produced a consistent pattern based on the app setting. If you’re using it in a simpler setting, they are easy to turn off completely. This has the advantage of conserving battery life as well. The battery is a robust 9000 mAH supporting 30PD fast charging. It takes about five hours to fully charge the speaker, but a very usable charge level is reached much more quickly. Battery life is about 16 hours, but this can be extended by turning off the lights. The speaker can also be used to charge other devices through a USB-C connection. Multiple JLab speakers can be interconnected to play the same source. One of the nicer features is the ability to choose, through the app, whether each will play all sounds or if they will be split into left / right channels for full stereo effects. This delivers a lot of flexibility for different listening environments and the ability to scale-up the sound volume and distribution to match any situation. The sound itself is delivered through an array of six speakers, four 2.5” full range speakers arranged in a circular pattern around the unit and driven by 10W of power each, a powered 5” down-firing subwoofer powered by 60W of power (lower frequencies require more power), and a passive 5” up-firing subwoofer to carry the sound from the powered sub. Overall, it packs 100W of clean power to five powered speakers, meaning the Epic Party will deliver a lot of distortion-free volume. The sound itself is solid, if not spectacular. It emphasizes mid and mid-bass frequencies at the expense of the lowest and higher sounds. This can be tuned to a more balanced effect using the app’s equalizer, but if sound fidelity is paramount then you’ll also want to use your source device’s equalization to further tamp down the mid / mid-bass sounds. Still, the Epic Party is meant for delivering portable sound for your gatherings, and minor fidelity shortcomings will not be noticed in these settings. Overall, this is a really versatile, portable unit for home listening or larger gatherings.

This JLab Epic Party speaker is, at its heart, really just a BIG bluetooth speaker. But that’s not a bad thing, since it’s also a VERY good one. This speaker is sized up to hold a strong / long-lasting battery and LOTS of sound components. So you get a great sound that can get quite loud and that lasts through the whole party. It can even act as a large external battery and charge your phone over the USB-C output port (handy since bluetooth streaming CAN also run down your phone battery). Charging the unit is quite easy - it charges at up to 30W using the included USB-C ac adapter or you can use another one you have around the house (and who doesn’t have a USB-C charger these days). Pairing is equally easy via bluetooth or you can connect using the 3.5mm audio jack (standard headphone port) or a larger microphone port if you’re using this as more of a “PA” system. The multiple connection options provide a lot of flexibility if you want to use this with something like a projector for an outdoor movie night or such. You can also install the app if you want to control the lights more granularly or set up the equalizer - I either turned the lights off or tried them on the default mode when I DID use them so I never bothered with the app, but it’s nice to know it’s there. The sound even on the default EQ setting is quite good for general music listening and I didn’t feel the need to adjust it, but some audiophiles might. JLab has been making quality speakers and other audio accessories for some time and this one is a great example of what they can produce. It’s well-built with sturdy components (it’s even water/splash resistant though you can’t immerse it in water) and a nice carrying handle so it should prove to be quite durable (it’s also fairly stable and doesn’t knock over easily). So if you want to bring the sound / music to your next outdoor party, this is a great option to do just that. Give it a try today!
Coming in at 11.5 pounds this is a serious room or yard filling speaker with great sound at any volume level. It arrived at 70 percent charged and my Android phone discovered it immediately. I was playing music literally minutes upon removing it from the box. A QR code on the side of the box containing the AC adapter lead me to an APP and a manual download. This APP gives me greater control over the speaker. The equalizer has three presets and a custom setting. There are 10 bands that are adjustable. This is more than any other speaker APP I have ever used. There is only a one click check for updates, which one was needed. The APP also contains 15 preset ambient sounds. This is a very well thought out APP. Volume and EQ presets are available on top of the speaker so you don’t always need to use the APP. On the back of the speaker is a ¼ inch microphone input jack, a TRS mini jack AUX input, a USB-C to charge devices and a USB-C to charge the speaker with the included AC adapter. It should be noted that there is no internal mic so when streaming from my phone and I received a call the music paused and I used my phone for the call. This is probably best since I don’t want everyone at the party to hear my conversation :). There is also the ability to sync several speakers together but I only have one at this time. The RGB lighting on the top has a choice of 6 sequences including speed, brightness and color. It is nice but unnecessary in my opinion. I am thoroughly enjoying this speaker and would not hesitate to recommend it to friends and family. This product has exceeded my expectations for both music and the spoken word.
