About this product
2017 . Kids In The Street is the seventh album from American roots troubadour, Justin Townes Earle. After marrying, moving to various corners of the country and continuous touring with both full band and solo, Earle made time to reflect on the past few years and find new clarity. With Kids In The Street, he made a conscious decision to work with a producer for the first time in his now decade-long career. Earle made the trip to Omaha, Nebraska to work with Mike Mogis (First Aid Kit, M. Ward, Connor Oberst) at ARC Studios. Together, they hand-picked musicians to create a new sound and environment for the songs that speaks to Justin's roots, musically and personally. This creative collaboration, paired with Justin's longtime guitarist Paul Niehaus, has resulted in an album that takes a big step forward.

Earle tells these American stories in detail and without judgement. While some songs cite historic events like InchFlint City Shake It,Inch and InchDon't Drink The Water,Inch other tracks present fictionalized narratives that are no less harrowing, or true-to-life, as heard in InchAppalachian Nightmare,Inch InchThe Saint Of Lost Causes,Inch and InchOver Alameda.Inch Justin Townes Earle was always a champion of the underdog and All In features in depth looks at the hopeful, and the hopeless. Fueled by empathy, baked in the blues, Justin was never without something poignant or humorous to say. Sadly, Justin passed away in 2020 at the age of 38. ALL IN Unreleased & Rarities (The New West Years) is a fitting tribute to Justin's legacy. The collection features many never heard before songs, demos, and cover tunes, spanning his time as a New West Records recording artist.

Shaken is full of potent memories and emotional outpouring translated into warm but dark sonic textures - sort of a rootsy Frankenstein's monster with essences of Broadcast, Portishead, Serge Gainesbourg, and Ennio Morricone felt throughout. Maggie Bjorklund's haunting pedal steel is here backed by Jim Barr (Portishead), John Parrish (PJ Harvey, Sparklehorse), John Covertino (Calexico), and vocals from Kurt Wagner (Lambchop) InchThis beguiling Americana album often sounds like it belongs in a David Lynch film.Inch - BOSTON GLOBE
