Karin Hammar Fab 4 - Strings Attached - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

When Ludwig van Beethoven wrote his first two sonatas for piano and violoncello (op. 5) in 1796, he was entering new compositional territory. Violin sonatas already existed; Mozart had already written several, but the cello had not yet established itself as a solo instrument equal to the violin in chamber music. During this period, i.e. The second half of the 1790s, another composer emerged into the public sphere who was also on a par with Beethoven, if only as a pianist.

In March 2022, Mark McCambridge embarked on a trip to Spacebomb Studios in Richmond, Virginia to record the third ARBORIST album. Working alongside Matthew E White (Producer) and recording with the legendary Spacebomb House Band they completed what has become 'An Endless Sequence of Dead Zeros', set to be released on Kirkinriola Records in April 2023. Belfast native Mark McCambridge played his first show as ARBORIST supporting James Yorkston. A solo tour followed before impressive performances led to notable support slots alongside Low, Cat Power, Echo and The Bunnymen and Guy Garvey. Arborist came to the attention of critics with their debut single, the Americana tinged, InchTwisted ArrowInch, that features an astonishing duet with Kim Deal of The Breeders. Their debut album Home Burial (2016) and the follow-up A Northern View both received glowing praise from the likes of The Guardian and Uncut. With BBC 6music play from Cerys Matthews, Cillian Murphy, Gideon Coe and Steve Lamacq who called single Taxi, Inchone of those records that makes you immediately stop what you're doing.Inch

A truly rare original Long Playing is here out for the first time on album. The highly musical family of the violinist Emil Telmányi are performing music by two composers close to them and which they have championed all their life. The Nielsen Quintet, a rarely heard early work by the young composer, is here receiving it's first modern together with a selection of the romantic J.P.E. Hartmann works for strings. One critic called the LP Inchone of the most important additions to Danish music.Inch Emil Telmányi (22 June 1892 - 13 June 1988) was a Hungarian violinist. Telmányi, who was born in Arad, Partium, Transylvania, then in the Kingdom of Hungary, was also an exponent of the composer Carl Nielsen, having recorded some of his violin sonatas and his violin concerto. Telmányi settled in Copenhagen and was married to Nielsen's daughter, Anne Marie, from 1918 to 1933. One of his most famous recordings is a 1954 recording of Bach's Sonatas and partitas for solo violin played using a violin with what was referred to as the Bach (or Vega) bow, which could be adjusted so the player could play three or even all four strings of the violin at once. He died, aged 95, in Holte, Denmark.
