About this product
DUX presents Piotr Banasik, an outstanding pianist who is fascinating in his interpretations, in this new album featuring the complete piano works of Mieczyslaw Karlowicz. The piano pieces featured here constitute a very interesting part of the Polish neo-romanticism movement. The album by Piotr Banasik distinctly reminds us that Karlowicz is an excellent composer, not only in his works for strings, but also in the field of piano music. Piotr Banasik is a musician who willingly and often propagates the work of Polish composers. When in 2005 he took part in the 15th International Chopin Piano Competition, many commentators were surprised that despite his great performances, he was not qualified for the final interrogations. His balanced, supported by refined technique interpretations (incl. The Etude in G-flat major, Op. 10 No. 5 and Bolero, Op. 19) turned out to be one of the most outstanding in the first stage of the event's edition. Album Tracks 1. Louisa Wals 2. Faglarnas Morgonlov 3. En Sommardag 4. Till Vagen 5. Vanskapen 6. Hjartats Hem 7. La Priere 8. In Schaukeldner Gondel 9. Hemkomsten 10. Galopp 11. Novemberkallen 12. There is no doubt that music is one of the best Polish export goods, at least since the times of Zielenski and Chopin. It is no different with the A-list of twentieth-century composers where Karol Szymanowski and Grazyna Bacewicz certainly occupy one of the highest places in rank. Their music paved the way for many years ahead, creating patterns, such as interest in folklore or formal discipline and melodic invention, which are still important points of reference for contemporary composers. The present features a lineup of works by contemporary Polish composers, including Lubowicz, Szymanowski, Goreki, and more, performed by the Atom String Quartet and the NFM Leopoldinum Chamber Orchestra under Christian Danowicz. Album Tracks 1. Ballad on the Death of Janosik, for Improvising String Quartet and String Orchestra (2012) 2. String Quartet No. 2, Op. 56 for String Orchestra (1927) 3. Highlander Dance from the Ballet Harnasie, Op. 55, for String Orchestra (1931) 4. Ilawa, for Improvising String Quartet and String Orchestra (2009) 5. Concerto for String Orchestra (1948) 6. Namyslowiak, for Improvising String Quartet and String Orchestra (2016) 7. Concerto-Notturno for Violin and String Orchestra (2000)
