The Kensington Classic USB-C Headphone is a wired on-ear stereo headset built for schools, hybrid offices, and shared desks where modern notebooks and tablets no longer include an analog audio jack. The black frame pairs a lightweight polymer headband with an adjustable slider and foam ear cushions covered in wipeable leatherette, so the same unit can be cleaned and handed to the next person in a classroom cart or hot-desk pool. The reversible USB-C connector is the defining feature, seating in either orientation and carrying digital audio directly from the host device so playback bypasses analog circuitry and avoids the hiss that can accompany a 3.5mm connection. Sound comes from 40mm dynamic drivers tuned for deep bass and a wide dynamic range, which keeps narration intelligible on recorded lessons while still handling music and video content. Maximum output is limited to 94dB to support safer listening for students and for staff who wear a headset through a full shift. The 6-foot cable gives enough slack to reach a docking station, monitor port, or tower placed under a desk without tugging at the ear cups. Setup is driverless, with native recognition across Windows, macOS, and ChromeOS, so technology teams can deploy one model across a mixed fleet of laptops, desktops, and Chromebooks without installing software. The closed-back on-ear cups hold back a measure of ambient room noise, which helps in busy computer labs and open-plan spaces, and the lightweight build keeps pressure low.
