Q: whats best to go with for a 2012 mercury mountaineer??
A: I would go with 8 dual brand 12 inch subs pushed by a planet audio 15,000 watt amp. Wire them to a .014 load. Those subs work best in open air with no box.

A: I assume you mean ported/non-ported...really depends on what kind of sound you want...for boomie, go ported...for accurate and thumpy, enclosed. But keep in mind, your amp will work harder with enclosed unless it's humongous because recoil will work against itself...but that also lends to the crisp sound. If you have to use a smaller enclosed box, stuff it with some polyfill which acts as a dampener and basically mimics a larger box.
