  • Features
    • Hard Food Disposer: false (This feature has blades to chop and disintegrate hard food particles, making them small enough to easily drain away. This prevents them from being recirculated back onto dishware and allows for easy maintenance.)
    • Drying Method: Heated drying (Appliances that use heat to dry the dishes will include a heating element or minerals which transform moisture into heat. A fan or vent then circulates the hot dry air throughout the tub during the drying cycle. This may reduce drying time and the risk of water spots. Appliances that use minerals to produce heat are considered more energy efficient than those that include a heating element. Appliances that use condensation drying are considered more energy efficient than those that use heated drying. Instead, high temperature water is produced during the final rinse cycle which warms the interior and eventually condensates and drains out of the machine.)
    • Operating Sound Level: 44 decibels adjusted (Today's appliances are pretty quiet. To get a sense for how quiet you'll need, think about having a conversation in the same room. • Steam Cleaning: false (Wash cycle that primarily uses steam to loosen food debris and clean fragile dishware without force.)
    • Steam Pre-Wash: false (Loosens food debris by creating steam inside the washer before the primary wash cycle, allowing for an easier, gentler clean of dishware.)
    • NSF-Certified Sanitization Cycle: false (Meets the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) standards for performance and cleaning effectiveness. Q: Does anyone know if this Black stainless matches the Samsung black stainless? This dishwasher got better ratings than the Samsung ones. I already ordered the black stainless Samsung stove & fridge online.

A: Kitchenaid has the darkest, boldest, black stainless, followed by LG, then Samsung. LG and Samsung have more of a shiny black stainless. Kitchenaid is the only one so far that has the black stainless embedded into the metal where as LG and Samsung only have a black stainless coating over the metal. There is a difference and they don't really match. Best thing to do is go to Best Buy or similar appliance store and look at them side by each.

Q: The lighted window makes this model look very stylish and beautiful. However, I am wondering it if will be easy to keep the glass clean and water spot free. Would like to hear from anyone who has had this dishwasher for a while. Thanks!

A: I think the glass actually has some sort of coating on it, I have this model and the water sheets off the window pretty well and I haven't seen any water spots.

Q: Does this dishwasher have the heated drying option? I had a Bosch for years and it did not. I never want another one that does not have heated drying.

A: this is the 5th bullet down under features. Quick drying with no spotting ProDry heated-dry option saves time, so you can put dishes away almost immediately.

Q: Does this model have sound reduction features?

A: So I have this model and it's really quiet, I think it's only like 44 decibels, so it's tough to actually hear when it's running. When I first got it, I had to touch it to make sure it was running it was so quiet.

Q: How long is the run time for this model?

A: Hello Pyke, here is a link to the Use & Care Guide where the cycle durations listed for you on pages 9 through 11, options will increase the overall time, see our notes: https://content.webcollage.net/apps/cs/mini-site/bestbuy/module/kitchenaidus/wcpc/kdtm384ess/tab/docs-ee7092fb/page//access.whirlpool.com/mr/KDTM384ESS/UseandCare_EN.pdf?asset-title=Use+and+Care&from-pp=&index-in-collection=3&suppress-site-prefs=&collection-size=4&showtabs=§ion-type=document-gallery&enable-reporting=true&wc-target=&action=view-resource&channel-product-id=6282219
