A: The reference has an operating frequency of 35Hz - 21kHz +/- 3dB, a sensitivity of 97 dB @ 2.83V/1M, and an aluminum tweeter. The reference premier however has an operating frequency of 32-25kHz +/- 3dB, a sensitivity of 98dB @ 2.83V / 1m, and a titanium tweeter. Basically the premier has a wider range of operation for the lows and highs, it can be louder at lower power output, and is built of more quality materials. Hope this helps.
A: I have two of these and are connected to the Sony 790 (145 W per channel) receiver along with a center and sub. It powers them with little effort. These 8000F speakers are very efficient.
A: yes this speaker is great sounding even without a sub! specially if you match it with a good amps. solid bass and the horn tweeter is perfect!

A: The RP8000's need power and the Sony will not provide this, even at 165watt PC. You'll end up clipping (power off safety) your Sony which most would say damages the receiver. I purchased my RP8000's and ran them on my Marantz 7010 and ended up clipping my Marantz due to the power draw from my speakers (of course I play them loud). Most forums will tell you to match the sensitivity ratings across all speakers, so if your Bose are 98 decibels sensitive rated, you should be fine. I use all Klipsch speakers in my 5.2.4 set up. I ended up purchasing a 3 channel amp (Emotiva) to power both RP8000's and my center RP504C Center, thus allowing the watts from the receiver to dedicate to all the other speakers. I'm very happy with this thus far.
A: With a good receiver and Listening to music big difference if.. The sound is neutral, when Set at least 1 foot from wall, they get bass heavy when in corner/ too close to wall. If you are taking the time to set up somewhat properly. Have a decent receiver, or listen to vinyl definitely worth extra money. Rp 8000 a steal, kinda big, but so are the r 820f’s. If you want something close to the wall next to tv to make movies awesome, and you throw some tunes On your phone with Bluetooth, go for the dual 8s/r 820f. The extra Money spent will not be heard, with out proper set up. Hope this helps.

A: Yes, while the RP-8000F has an RMS of 150W per channel into 8 ohms, giving it extra power will increase the clarity at lower volumes. Be careful not to turn the monolith up too much, since it has the potential to blow the drivers.
Q: Are these speakers too much for a Yamaha RX-A3080BL to handle?
A: Hi Tom, The KLIPSCH REFERENCE PREMIER RP8000F are very efficient and would do very well with your Yamaha RX-A3080BL even with a 7.2.2 configuration. In my opinion they would be a great match. I am really enjoying my RP8000F for Music and Home Theater. They are a great value that I don't think any one can beat. Not much compromise here. I hope this helps.
