Kreutzer Quartet - Piano Quintets - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

On this , seven works composed between 2003 and 2017 are featured, each of which are characterized by an overall subdued, laid-back character, quietness and strong relations to several aspects of Japanese culture- from literature, haiku, Noh dance and the use of the sho. The Japanese aesthetic permeates all and creates a deep and lasting impression. Greek composer Basil Athanasiadis lived and studied in Tokyo to become immersed in the culture. Since moving to England he has founded the unique musical ensemble Shonorities - a diverse group of performers and composers that blends various cultures with principal emphasis on Greece and Japan. The soloists are all highly accomplished and successful in their own right and contribute to one of the most individual and beautiful albums of the year.

Divine Art is delighted to present the February 2026 of two piano quintets from composer Jim Aitchison, both drawing on his unique dual practice as composer and artist, creating music that responds to encounters with powerful works of art by leading visual artists. The collaboration between music, art, and artistry came together as part of a project with the Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens, InchHearing Shadows Wordless LightInch.Both Piano Quintets also grew out of his close collaboration with Peter Sheppard Skærved, Roderick Chadwick, and the Kreutzer Quartet, whose fiercely intelligent commitment and unique experience of working in visual art contexts have underpinned so much of Aitchison's work over the past two decades.Aitchison has always been fascinated with chamber music for piano and strings, inspired by the interplay of texture and timbre, and the huge expressive range of the great masterpieces. His own piano quintets are astonishing and unexpected, recreating yet Inchbusting down the wallsInch of the Germanic canon.Neither of the quintets attempts to convey, InchexplainInch, or illustrate the artworks.
