Q: Can the laptop be powered through the usb c port?
A: Hi there, Yes, the Legion Pro 7i features a USB-C port that supports USB Power Delivery, 65-100W. For disclosure and as a disclaimer, this unit was not designed with USB-C charging solely in mind, and by not delivering a high enough wattage to the system, your Legion Pro 7i may charge slower, and during strenuous workloads the battery may drain faster than the 65-100W USB-C charger can supply and performance may drop during that time. When completing non-graphically intensive tasks, you can use the system's MUX switch to use integrated graphics exclusively which can drastically reduce battery draw and help mitigate this. This laptop checks almost every box I was looking for in a gaming laptop. It has solid build quality, and is much quieter than the previous Lenovo Legion products I've owned, especially if gaming on balanced mode. This thing is a beast... You can pretty much max out the graphics settings in most games and it'll still run buttery smooth. The cooling that exhausts through the back is surprisingly efficient, and I think justifies the relocation of the ports to the sides of the machine vs. the previous generations that had them on the back. The fans move A LOT of air, so I feel confident in the cooling over time. The powerful Intel CPU runs hot, and can spike well above 90C under load, but average temps are usually much much lower. Overall, the selling point for me on this particular model was the 240Hz OLED screen, which is by far the greatest I've ever played on. The glossy screen effectively preserves those deep blacks and super rich OLED colors unlike any matte screen could, and I've found the screen brightness is adequate enough to easily use the laptop without issue even in a well-lit room. I'm incredibly happy with this machine, and I think Lenovo absolutely nailed it with gen 10.

Honestly wasn't planning on buying one of these when I initially saw the design and first impressions - however due to this being available before any of the new ASUS products I decided to pull the trigger. I have to say, I'm impressed - the screen is gorgeous, the keys are nice, and the speakers sound surprisingly good (I'd say they're not as good as the G14/G16 but close and I'm happy with them). I did immediately turn off pretty much all of the rainbow vomit lighting except for the keyboard. Also as a pleasant surprise, this comes with 2TB of storage (2 x 1TB), contrary to the Best Buy listing saying it only had 1TB. I've been playing Forza Horizon 5 (where it averages about 155fps without any DLSS) and Sniper Elite. The system stays remarkably quiet on balanced mode. I haven't noticed any issues with overheating. Also this came with a minimal amount of bloatware pre-installed, mostly just McAfee and some Microsoft rubbish. The new LegionSpace app seems efficient and well organized - no issues with it so far - much better experience than Armoury Crate or Razer Synapse. At one point in the last year I had a G16 4090 so I'll use that as my point of comparison. The Legion was priced about $300 cheaper than the old G16 and the new 5080 G16, has the 275HX instead of 285H the G16 has, and has user serviceable RAM. The Legion also runs at the full 175W of the GPU whereas the G16s have reduced power limits due to the thin size and cooling restraints. I think that the design of the G16 and speakers might be the two points I'd give to ASUS, but for the money, the Legion is solid. I also like that Lenovo offers an option to extend the warranty an additional 3 years for just over $100. I've seen a number of folks gripe about Lenovo removing the rear I/O on the Legion - I personally don't mind - the charging port is located in the back corner, so its out of the way and I don't plug much of anything else into my laptop (wireless mouse and keyboard). All in all, I'm hanging on to this one and recommend it 100%.

I originally ordered the ASUS - ROG Strix G18 5080 back on February 25, but after dealing with a couple of delays and receiving two notifications about further hold-ups, I decided to cancel my order and try something different. That’s when I went for the Lenovo Legion 5080—and I couldn’t be happier with my decision. Right out of the box, this laptop has impressed me with its stunning display and cutting-edge design. It’s not just about looks, though. I’ve upgraded it with a 4TB NVMe SSD and 96GB of RAM, and the performance is nothing short of extraordinary. It truly "roars" under heavy loads, handling everything I throw at it with ease. Whether you're gaming, editing, or running demanding applications, the Legion 5080 has more than enough power to handle it. The build quality feels premium, and it’s clear that Lenovo has put a lot of thought into both aesthetics and functionality. In conclusion, despite the initial setbacks with my first choice, I’m thrilled with the Lenovo Legion 5080. It’s fast, reliable, and a joy to use. If you're looking for a powerhouse of a laptop, this one definitely delivers!
