    Wobbly service by local Best Buy

    I bought a re-sold and guaranteed soundbar from Best Buy, listed as in excellent condition. It looks good, but it came with one power cord missing (the subwoofer). Without it, I couldn't get any sound to the soundbar. I went to the local Best Buy, in the next town up, and they gave me a power cord. I asked them to test the soundbar because I couldn't get any sound out of it. Their service guy told me he had no way to connect the soundbar to a shop full of TVs, but he "guaranteed" it would work. Gone home, I still couldn't get any sound out of it. I then purchased an optical cable, and a suitable (old-fashioned dual USB 2.x connectors) copper cable. I still couldn't get any sound out of it. I was finally able to get sound out of it via a Bluetooth connection with my phone. My TV doesn't have BT, but none of the other connections has worked and I still don't know if the soundbar will ever work with a TV, other than using Bluetooth. Why does it matter? I'd need to buy a new TV to get Bluetooth, and the quality of sound via BT is inherently worse than via optical cable/PCM. I think I like the soundbar, but have to give it a neutral review because I really can't say.
