Q: So I can just hook the hose up to the washing machine next to it?
A: Hi there, Las. We understand your question about the LG dryer, model # DLHC5502B. This is a ventless dryer with heat pump technology, which means it operates differently from a traditional vented dryer. Instead of venting hot, moist air outside, this dryer collects the moisture in a small internal tank or it is drained out through a separate drain hose. Since this model is a ventless unit, it does not require an external vent. If you have the unit drained, you can install the included drain hose to a nearby drain, like the standpipe for your washing machine. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/lg-7-8-cu-ft-stackable-smart-electric-dryer-with-ventless-heat-pump-technology-black-steel/6573533.p?skuId=6573533 We appreciate your patience. A: As indicated in its header, the Energy Star® Most Efficient LG 7.8 cu. Ft. Mega Capacity Smart Front Load Dryer with Dual Inverter HeatPump™ Technology and Inverter Direct Drive Motor System, Model # DLHC5502B, is a heat pump dryer. It has a drain port on the back that you have to attach a drain hose to so it can channel out the moisture or water that remains after the laundry inside has been dried. Depending on the usage frequency, you should drain it every two to three uses or at least once a month. There are explicit instructions and illustrated diagrams on page 21 in the owner's manual under 'How to Connect the Drain Hose' that are easy to follow for connecting the included drain hose...^Ivan.
A: Hi there, Jack. We understand your inquiry and appreciate you considering LG for your laundry setup. You’re looking at the DLHC5502W dryer and wondering if it will stack safely with your WM4000HWA washer. Let’s walk through what you need to know: First, the DLHC5502W dryer is designed to be stackable and pairs perfectly with front-load washers. Although its “Matching Washer Model Number” lists WM5500HWA and WM6500HWA, the key factor is that your WM4000HWA is also a front-load washer with the same 27″ width and nearly identical depth, so it meets the basic dimensional requirements. Troubleshooting Step: Before stacking, ensure both units are level on the floor and use the LG-approved Stacking Kit HSTK1B. This kit secures the dryer to the top of your WM4000HWA and includes brackets and hardware to prevent shifting or tipping. Double-check that you have at least 1″ of clearance around the stack for proper ventilation and door swing. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/lg-7-8-cu-ft-stackable-smart-electric-dryer-with-ventless-heat-pump-technology-white/6573534.p?skuId=6573534 We’re happy to help you verify compatibility and walk you through installation details—please send us a private message on Social Media @LGUSSupport so our team can explore all possible solutions and ensure your setup is safe and secure. Drying a king-size comforter and bedding in a single load is just the start—this dryer features built-in intelligence that automatically selects the right settings to eliminate the guesswork. It can even talk to your washer to pick a compatible cycle. When there’s no time to wash, TurboSteam technology reduces wrinkles in just 10 minutes to refresh clothes in between washes.

Simply put, this is one of LG’s most energy efficient dryers. It uses up to 65% less energy to dry every load compared to conventional vented dryers¹ by recycling the pre-warmed air rather than venting it outside. Beyond savings, the ventless design gives you the flexibility to install it almost anywhere. A range of cycles, easy-to-use electronic controls with LED display and the performance of our exclusive Direct Drive Motor means you simply won’t find a better dryer value.

This sleek dryer offers big style and big capacity in a small 24” wide footprint, with a go-anywhere ventless design that can be installed side by side or stacked on top of a compact LG washer. But saving space is just the beginning—LG’s innovative HeatPump technology saves energy with the dryer usage on every load. Unlike conventional condenser ventless dryers that extract the moisture from clothes and pumps it out of the dryer, this dryer extracts the moisture and recycles it for more energy-efficient drying, every day.

We ended up buying this dryer out of necessity. We had a six year old gas dryer from LG, but our condo's ducting was not to code, poorly designed, and would require the cooperation from two other owners to repair at what would likely be an insane cost, so ductless it was. My previous experiences with ductless dryers had me pretty convinced we'd end up with mostly dry but still a little damp clothes that weren't warm. That is absolutely not the case with this dryer. After years of dealing with a gas dryer that couldn't dry correctly due to bad ducting, we're suddenly getting dry, warm clothes out of the dryer and I could not possibly be happier. Drying time is a little bit longer, but even doing sheets/blankets is still sub two hours. Most loads take about an hour to an hour and fifteen. The app that integrates with it is nice in that it'll both notify you when the dryer is finished and also give you an estimate of how much longer drying will take. It also estimates your power usage, which does appear to take your local utility into account if you give them your general location. So far, energy usage seems quite low. We're in a reasonably expensive part of the country for utilities, and for the 8 times we've used it this month, the estimated energy cost is under $3. A couple of the downsides - the need for a 240V outlet. We had to have one installed in our laundry room. That did add a few hundred dollars to the overall cost. The lint filters are both more complicated than I'm used to and require more maintenance. There are two filters, one that you clean every time like normal but it opens up like a clamshell and you clean it from the inside, and a second that that first filter fits into that needs a cleaning every 10th cycle or so. Ideally on that tenth you either wash both filters with water and let them dry fully before putting them back in or apparently you can use a vacuum cleaner or something similar. It's a little more work than I'm used to, but not a huge deal. That said, a lot of the manual seemed very concerned with putting anything back in damp, so I get the impression that excess moisture/off odors can become an issue if you're not careful. Overall, I really like this dryer, and not just because we couldn't make a traditional one work with our living situation. Energy usage is low, clothes come out dry and warm, it seems like it's gentler on clothes than traditional dryers, and the app integration is pretty great. I can't speak for other ventless dryers, and especially for all-in-one washer/dryers, but I have zero regrets switching from a gas dryer to this. It works great and other than it being slightly more work to clean out the lint filters, it's really no different from having a standard vented dryer with a vent that is actually functional.

When this thing works it is BY FAR THE BEST DRYER I HAVE EVER USED! It’s amazingly quiet and energy efficient. I love the app and what it brings to the table. The fact that you do not need a lint port connection is amazing!!! It dries very very well and you would think this is a tumble dryer the way this thing operates! SECOND TO NONE! If your model doesn’t give you any trouble you are in for such a treat. Now to the bad part…. I ordered my dryer in February, it arrived in June it was projected for Sept but I put pressure on my representative and she graciously found one. The issue I’m currently dealing with that spurred this review was that my start button has stopped working after 3 weeks of use…. I have done ALL of the troubleshooting from LG but to no avail. I purchased a 5 year geek squad protection with the dryer but be sure to read the fine print guys, the first year you are obligated to use the manufacturer warranty. So now I’m doing the dance with LG and best buy to whose problem this is. OH JOY! The touch interfaces on appliances are futuristic and all but I miss the old days when mechanical controls were king… I hope you do not have any issue 1.receiving your model and 2. That it doesn’t give you any issues in the first year at the very least. Otherwise this unit is a dream…

Purchased this dryer and matching washer for a laundry/ bathroom remodel. The style, capacity and controls are all big positives. Love not having a dryer vent … the avoided expense and maintenance of the dryer vent line is a real upside. Have had a condensing dryer before but this was my first heat pump dryer purchase. It can/does get hot and drys well … maybe a bit slower than a conventional electric or gas dryer however significantly more efficient.
