Lionel Hampton - Changes & Other Favorites - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

This product is an authorized manufactured on demand CD-R

Lionel Hampton, the master of the jazz vibraphone, is one of the most important figures in jazz history, with a career that spanned almost seven decades, working with such luminaries as Benny Goodman and Buddy Rich to Charlie Parker and Quincy Jones. This rare mid-sixties recording finds Hamp in fine form, performing classic tunes from Ellington, Gershwin, Jobim and others. The album closes with InchFlying Home,Inch Hamp's signature tune from his days with the Benny Goodman orchestra. All selections newly remastered.

Without a doubt, it is urgent to get back to essentials, to retrace the path from the canyons to the stars, to celebrate Inchthe beauties of the earth (it's rocks, it's birdsongs), the beauties of the material sky, the beauties of the spiritual skyInch as Messiaen writes at the head of his score. According to Jean-François Heisser, Inchthere is a grandeur in this work that sweeps aside reservations about the composer; something in the music escapes us and instantly grips the audienceInch. One cannot deny this work exemplifies the Inchtoo big for meInch of which Gilles Deleuze spoke. That is why it must be heard, that is why this new recording was necessary.
