A: Yes, you can turn it off using FN + F1 to lower the brightness to zero.
A: I do not do gaming either but it has to do with the capabilities of the key board. It has been entirely satisfactory for the every day use of a dinasour.

Great keyboard
This keyboard feels comfortable to use and has a more than adequate amount of backlighting for your daily use. Great choice if you want an entry-level mechanical keyboard.

Keys hit different!
I purchased this tactile mechanical keyboard for a better typing experience. It was a great first dive into the world of mechanical keyboards. Pros: No RGB lighting Less accidental keystrokes Solid build quality feels heavy F keys have media controls Has 10-keys number pad Neutral: I can hear the keys with my noise cancelling headphones Sony XM2. It doesn't really bother me, but it is noticeably louder than a normal keyboard. Cons: Keys aren't visible without the backlighting. Recommendations: Try the keyboards in the store. I didn't really like the sound of the clicky mechanical boards, so I went with tactile. This is the title of the article that I used to decide what type of mechanical keyboard that would most likely meet my preferences. "How to Choose the Best Mechanical Keyboard in 2021"

Good keyboard.
Good keyboard for the price. Hard to find many cheaper mechanical keyboards that still have a 10-key. Would buy again.
