The XTC8 features our largest and highest performing FMT XT and a woven Kevlar woofer. The MartinLogan Motion XT CI series takes performance to the next level over Motion CI. The Folded Motion XT tweeter gives each model in the Motion XT series even more of the clarity, output, and efficiency that the standard size FMT is famous for. With Motion XT, we wanted to increase all aspects of performance over the Motion series, so we didn’t just stop at the tweeter. All Motion XT models feature woven Kevlar woofers for increased rigidity and lightness which translates into better sound. In addition to the larger tweeter, and lighter, stronger woofers, MartinLogan’s design and engineering team has fitted the Motion XT series with a more substantial chassis to strengthen the speaker and provide a more accurate sound, like a better cabinet on a traditional speaker. With Motion XT CI, the difference is in the details. No matter which Motion XT CI speaker you choose for your room, rest assured they are designed to provide a consistently high level of performance and can easily be used with other MartinLogan speakers to make creating the perfect system for your unique listening space that much easier.

Folded Motion XT Tweeter
This upgrade increases audible bandwidth and detail while lowering distortion even further when compared to our signature Folded Motion Tweeter. Featuring a 40% larger surface area and even more controlled dispersion, the FMT XT advances tweeter technology to new levels.
Kevlar Woofers
Motion XT CI speakers feature very lightweight woven Kevlar cones specifically engineered to keep pace with the blazing speed of our highest performance “XT” tweeter. These high-performance woofers feature a Nomex backer to reduce unwanted resonance and ringing for even better realism.

One of the benefits of in-ceiling speakers is how easily they disappear into a room. Unfortunately, the sound coming from the back of the speaker doesn’t disappear and can distract those in the rooms above the speakers. MartinLogan offers back boxes, or enclosures, for Motion XT CI In-ceiling speakers. For these situations where sound control is desired, these retrofittable back boxes are the perfect solution. They offer 20dB of noise reduction into adjacent areas and offer the perfect solution to achieve consistent performance where ceiling cavity sizes may vary throughout an installation. Please note that the volume of air in the retrofit enclosure is smaller than that of your ceiling, and bass extension will be reduced. If sound control is not necessary for your unique installation, we recommend not using the back box so the speaker can take advantage of the larger airspace in your ceiling cavity.
If you desire even more output and bass response than the MC6, the 8” MC8 is the obvious choice. Featuring the same Folded Motion Tweeter and woven fiberglass woofer as the rest of the Motion CI models, the MC8 is all about “more.” MC8 can handle more power, produce more output, and deliver more bass when the fullest performance is desired. An optional retrofittable back enclosure is available for applications where sound control is needed. All MartinLogan Motion CI Series speakers feature our signature Folded Motion Tweeter or FMT. This innovative piece of audio technology provides incredible detail, precise clarity, clean output and high efficiency in a small but mighty package. Pairing this tweeter with lightweight woven fiberglass woofers means that Motion CI delivers a clean and balanced sound that is perfectly suited for any application.
