A: Ours did the same thing on start up. Protective plastic and oils used in manufacture probable cause. We turned on the fan and it cleared up. No smoke after a few minutes.

Q: Is the broiler in the oven a gas flame or an electric element?
A: Oven has both gas and an electric heating element. There is NO broiler at the bottom. The bottom is a storage drawer.

Q: I notice this has downdraft ventilation. Where does this ventilate to?

Maytag stove
Very nice stove. Our old stove oven gave out after over 10 years and without all the bells and whistles this stove is perfect for a large or small family. The burners are set back far enough so pots and pans are away from the edge of the stove. This was a problem on our old stove. We've had the stove for about a month now and haven't used the griddle yet. Only drawback is I am hard of hearing and the oven's alarm isn't loud enough. Didn't have that issue with the old stove

great job. the gas range was delivered in a timely manner and on delivery date. we were called before delivery and and the guys did fast job in installing and explained basics features on gas range.
