Mossolov,Alexander / Andryushchenko,Olga - Complete Works for Solo Piano - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

This set of George Enescu's solo piano music traces a fascinating musical arc from his precocious years in Vienna and Paris, where he absorbed Brahmsian and French late-Romantic influences, notably in the Impromptus, to the brilliantly mercurial Piano Sonata No. 3. Whether in the Pieces impromptus, eloquent character pieces, or in the oceanic Piano Sonata No. 1, Enescu remains, in Pablo Casals' words, Inchthe greatest musical phenomenon since Mozart,Inch his unique musical language embracing Bach as well as the abiding vitality, and melancholy, of his native Romanian folk music. As a First Prize winner of the XIII George Enescu International Piano Competition in Bucharest, the XV José Iturbi International Piano Competition and the First European Union Piano Competition, Spanish pianist Josu de Solaun has been invited to perform in distinguished concert series throughout the world, having made notable appearances in Bucharest, Venice, Saint Petersburg, Washington, DC, New York, London, Paris, Leipzig, and all major cities of Spain. He is the only pianist from Spain to win the Enescu and Iturbi competitions in their respective histories, and was recently invited to a private reception with the King and Queen of Spain at the Royal Palace after winning the coveted Bucharest prize.

Reaching the end of a strenuous journey beset by turmoil and loss, Madder Mortem is finally ready with their 8th studio album InchOld Eyes, New HeartInch. Emerging five years after it's predecessor InchMarrowInch, the time in which InchOld Eyes, New HeartInch was made has been a troubled one for the Madders - and in the winter of 2023, Agnete and BP's dad Jakob passed away. Having always been a huge supporter of the band, Jakob's backing was essential in launching the band's recording career almost 30 years ago. Being an artist himself, Jakob had prepared two paintings especially for the album and with the adaptation and additional design by long-term Madder collaborator Costin Chioreanu, the cover artwork for InchOld Eyes, New HeartInch was completed. Even though Jakob didn't live to see the finished album, he would have been immensely proud to see his art on the cover, and the album is dedicated to his memory.Lyrically and musically, the album deals with hope, disappointment, and the ambivalence between them. It is music from old hearts and deep roots, with new eyes open to the unlimited possibilities of 12 notes, but always with the desire to write a good, honest song. Recorded and produced by guitarist BP M. Kirkevaag, it shows one of Norway's most interesting bands embracing a multitude of directions spanning from post-metal heaviness to soft Americana grooves and everything in between. Fronted by one of the genre's greatest and most unique voices, it is an album full of surprises, but at all times unmistakably Madder.- For fans of Neurosis, Cult of Luna, Solefald, Meshuggah- Confirmed for Inferno Festival 2024.1. The piano work by Franco Margola, brilliant composer and teacher of the second half of the twentieth century, is presented for the first time in an integral edition within this containing his greatest works and his didactic compositions that Margola continued writing even in his most advanced age. Here Margola's musical writing quality appears in all it's value, testifying the unconditional esteem his music enjoyed by one of the greatest pianists of all time, Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli, that often used to perform his works in concert. The performance is entrusted to the rare technical and expressive abilities of Alessandro Deljavan, a multi-award-winning top performer of the current international piano scene. Deljavan began studying the piano when he was only two years old, and after receiving a degree from the Conservatory of Milan, Italy, he was selected for the prestigious Lake Como International Piano Association where he studied with William Grant Nabore, Dimitri Bashkirov, Laurent Boullet, and others. His prizes include 5th place at the 2005 Gina Bachauer International Young Artists Competition, and 2nd prize at the 2010 Isang Yun Competition, South Korea.
