About this product

Oakland group Naked Roommate began as a side project while the duo of Amber Sermeño and Andy Jordan were on a break from their band, The World. Not content to lie dormant while the creative juices were flowing, they recorded a set of tunes in their home studio that would make up their self-released 2018 cassette. Those six tunes rooted around in the same musical slop The World enjoyed; skeletal, danceable post-punksprinkled with a smirk of humor and playfulness, but they became the genesis and jumping off point for Naked Roommate's debut album InchDo The DuvetInch. Trouble In Mind is honored to the North American version of Naked Roommate's debut (U.K. tag Upset The Rhythm will the album in the UK/EU and elsewhere) Newly expanded to a quartet - including guitarist/synthesist Michael Zamora (Exit Group/W0rk/ BAd BAd) and bassist Alejandra Alcala (Blues Lawyer/Preening), the group explores the danceable, electronic side of the Inchpost-punkInch spectrum on InchDo The DuvetInch. The ideas sketched out on the debut cassette (particularly the second half's gurgling electronics-laced tunes) come fullyformed, absorbing elements of house music, DIY post-punk and dub. The undeniable influence of forbearers like ESG, Liquid Liquid and A Certain Ratio, as well as more modern interpreters like Sneaks or Anika are awash in InchDo The DuvetInch (the album's title itself is a pun on ACR's InchDo The DuInch). InchMad LoveInchs pulsing throb kicks off the album, attaching a heartbeat to the dance floor, and setting the tone for the album to follow. Elsewhere, InchWe Are The BabiesInch and InchFondu GuruInchs addictive bop exude a confidence and flirtatiousness that belies their come-hither cheekiness with both a wink and a shove. Meanwhile elements of dub music creep into InchFill SpaceInch, a slinky number that would make Vivien Goldman jealous, and wouldn't sound out of place on

Jimmy Eat World - Futures - VINYL LP
5.0(4)

Limited vinyl LP pressing of this 2004 album from the Arizona-based emo rock band. The guitars are stacked like thick diamonds, the vocals are way out front and buttressed by sweet harmonies in the choruses, the drums sound large, and the mix is loaded with sweetening from acoustic guitars, keyboards, and female vocals. In the process, they sacrificed the immediacy of the previous record, but they gained an epic and weighty feel. Jimmy Eat World exemplify all that is the modern radio rock sound. Singing and playing with a conviction and sincerity that will melt the heart of even the most stoic of listeners, they produce rousing, well-crafted anthems along the lines of Third Eye Blind at their roughest or a more polished Green Day.

Partner Look - By The Book - VINYL LP

Partners, Sisters and Friends. Partner Look are a Melbourne-based band made up of German sisters Ambrin (Cool Sounds) and Anila Hasnain (Studio Magic), who are joined by their partners Dainis Lacey (Cool Sounds) and Lachlan Denton (The Ocean Party). The members also share a history of friendship and musical bonds. Trouble In Mind (in conjunction with Spunk/Osbourne Again in Australia) is honored to be releasing InchBy The BookInch - the band's debut - a twelve-track charmer that swoons and smirks with a scrappy, yet sophisticated take on sparkling indie pop. Partner Look first got together to write the song 'Jana', a virtual wedding celebration for their family friend whose wedding they couldn't attend in person. Wanting to believe that the hit single sent ripples through the Rhineland's music scene, Partner Look continued writing songs and playing live shows across Melbourne. InchBy The BookInch was recorded in a short window in May 2020, when Melbourne's lockdown was loosened for a few months, allowing five people at home. It was recorded in a studio built by Lachlan and Dainis in Dainis' and Ambrin's garage in Brunswick. Lachlan recorded all his drum-parts playing with the whole band in one go. The rest of the band re-recorded and edited their parts in the following three weeks. Dainis engineered it and Liam InchSnowyInch Haillwell mixed and mastered all tracks. The band is a vehicle for all members to share their own song ideas and collaboratively progress them in an open and encouraging space. However, misunderstandings often underpin the creative process, as the band name exemplifies. Partnerlook is a German expression referring to two people wearing similar or matching outfits. After years of using the pseudo-anglicism to compliment friends wearing matching outfits, who must have been too polite to ask, Dainis and Lachlan finally wondered 'what do you mean wit

Naked Roommate - Pass the Loofah - VINYL LP

Oakland's Naked Roommate have been slinking around the Bay Area lighting up stages, shaking asses & confounding listeners since 2018, when the group - originally just the duo of real-life partners Andy Jordan & Amber Sermeno (both formerly of The World) - self-released a cassette of demos (2018's InchNaked RoommateInch). Members Michael InchMigInch Zamora & Alejandra Alcala (Blues Lawyer) joined soon after to augment the sound & live band with their proper full-length album InchDo The DuvetInch, co-released in September of 2020 via UK tag Upset! The Rhythm & Trouble In Mind. 2024 finds the lineup expanded even further to incorporate the horn section of Geoff Saba & Jeanne Oss on tenor & alto saxophones as well as percussion & marimba as the band readies their sophomore effort, the dizzyingly ecstatic InchPass The LoofahInchRecorded by members Andy Jordan & Mig Zamora from 2021-2023 as time & restrictions allowed, InchPass The LoofahInch retains the wild energy of their debut, but leans into the rhythmic throbs perpetuated by forbears like Kid Creole & The Coconuts, Lizzy Mercier Descloux & ESG; the signature sound of UK's On-U Sound & NYC's 99 Records, but with a decidedly West Coast irreverence & a knack for absurdist exposition. Make no mistake, this is music designed to make your body MOVE & Naked Roommate won't stop until they've made sure every ass is shook. The band freely incorporates elements of the dancier side of post-punk (think A Certain Ratio or Liquid Liquid) as well as disco, funk, & house music. However, the group's uplifting melodicism belies a deeper subtext, understanding the importance of the sense of community of dance music & the culture surrounding it and leaning into a Neo-socialist lyrical context. S**t is fucked, & we get thru it by helping one another & acknowledging & addressing the failures of disaster Capitalism & tech-bro hegemony (a sta
