About this product
Oakland's Naked Roommate have been slinking around the Bay Area lighting up stages, shaking asses & confounding listeners since 2018, when the group - originally just the duo of real-life partners Andy Jordan & Amber Sermeno (both formerly of The World) - self-released a cassette of demos (2018's InchNaked RoommateInch). Don't You Think You've Had Enough? is what Jennifer Clavin asked herself when she hit a turning point in her life. It's also the title of the new record from Bleached, Jessie and Jennifer Clavin's first LP written from a place of sobriety. That newfound perspective serves as the guiding force, yielding a courageous, honest, and sonically ambitious album. It's a record about fighting both literally and figuratively for your life - and the clarity born from that struggle. Writing began in early 2018, both in a Los Angeles practice space, and with friends and co-writers in Nashville. Producer Shane Stoneback (Vampire Weekend, Sleigh Bells) helped open every door to experimentation, wanting to be exploratory while keeping the sound singularly Bleached. The resulting LP is explosive, grappling with the past; it's twelve tracks mark some of the sisters' most visceral, rawest songwriting to date - and some of their best. The work glimmers with inspiration found in touring with the likes of The Damned and Paramore. That arena- ready pop, incisively catchy, was a palpable influence helping to push Bleached's sound in a new direction. InchWriting these songs while sober became somewhat of a spiritual experience,Inch Jennifer says. InchLike I was connecting with a power greater than myself. I had to let go, trust the process, and allow an energy beyond my control to be present.Inch

Oakland group Naked Roommate began as a side project while the duo of Amber Sermeño and Andy Jordan were on a break from their band, The World. Not content to lie dormant while the creative juices were flowing, they recorded a set of tunes in their home studio that would make up their self-released 2018 cassette. Those six tunes rooted around in the same musical slop The World enjoyed; skeletal, danceable post-punksprinkled with a smirk of humor and playfulness, but they became the genesis and jumping off point for Naked Roommate's debut album InchDo The DuvetInch. Trouble In Mind is honored to the North American version of Naked Roommate's debut (U.K. tag Upset The Rhythm will the album in the UK/EU and elsewhere) Newly expanded to a quartet - including guitarist/synthesist Michael Zamora (Exit Group/W0rk/ BAd BAd) and bassist Alejandra Alcala (Blues Lawyer/Preening), the group explores the danceable, electronic side of the Inchpost-punkInch spectrum on InchDo The DuvetInch. The ideas sketched out on the debut cassette (particularly the second half's gurgling electronics-laced tunes) come fullyformed, absorbing elements of house music, DIY post-punk and dub. The undeniable influence of forbearers like ESG, Liquid Liquid and A Certain Ratio, as well as more modern interpreters like Sneaks or Anika are awash in InchDo The DuvetInch (the album's title itself is a pun on ACR's InchDo The DuInch). InchMad LoveInchs pulsing throb kicks off the album, attaching a heartbeat to the dance floor, and setting the tone for the album to follow. Elsewhere, InchWe Are The BabiesInch and InchFondu GuruInchs addictive bop exude a confidence and flirtatiousness that belies their come-hither cheekiness with both a wink and a shove. Meanwhile elements of dub music creep into InchFill SpaceInch, a slinky number that would make Vivien Goldman jealous, and wouldn't sound out of place on
