The Rochester, NY band's 1981 debut EP has been newly remastered & is now expanded to include six bonus tracks three studio outtakes & three tracks recorded live at Rochester's Scorgies in 1983. The title track has received years of interest from DJs and 80s indie fans. With a fresh remaster & unearthed outtakes, it is a must! The original EP came out on Howie Klien's 415 Records (Romeo Void, Red Rockers, Translator, Wire Train) -distributed by Columbia. The original 5-song EP has long been out of print. The newly remastered EP tracks sit sonically alongside the outtakes and live cuts to flesh out this indie classic. To celebrate the 2023 compilation InchDie Trying & Other Hot SoundsInch, New Math reformed & spent most of last year playing shows around the Upstate New York area. Feeling rejuvenated, the band decided to record some of their original repertoire that had not yet been captured in the studio and was previously lost to time.

First-Ever CD & Wide Vinyl of Rochester, NY's New Math's Lost 1984 Album InchGardensInch. This long-lost final from the cult post-punk outfit New Math is now remastered & available on CD. This expanded reissue restores the band's moody, genre-defying swan song that never had it's proper moment. Originally intended for in 1984, the New York-based indie tag Brain Eater Records folded just before the album's , leaving shrink-wrapped copies stranded in boxes and never shipped to stores. While some copies reached U.S. college radio stations, most fans never had the opportunity to hear or purchase the full album.New Math's InchGardensInch is a moody, gothic-laced, Neo-Psych, synth-tinged cinematic, genre-bending farewell recorded during a moment of creative reinvention. After turning down a modest major tag offer from Columbia Records in early 1983, the group doubled down on their vision. Trading in the power-pop of early single InchDie TryingInch and the polished new wave aesthetic of the previous 's InchThey Walk Among You,Inch the band pursued something more introspective and surreal. After a tour supporting the Psychedelic Furs and inspired by Kenneth Anger films and American Gothic imagery, Gardens was recorded at PCI Studios in Rochester and captures a haunted, transitional moment as the band unraveled and reshaped itself. This Expanded Edition of Gardens includes All 8 original tracks, fully remastered + 5 bonus tracks including 4 live recordings from Rochester's punk mecca ScorgiesThe also marks the beginning of the group's transformation into The Jet Black Berries, whose track InchLove Under WillInch (first heard here) went on to appear on the iconic InchReturn of the Living DeadInch soundtrack. With the resurgence of interest in early post-punk, psych-rock and shoegaze, this long-overdue reissue will hopefully be a found buried treasure for old fans and

Formed in Rochester, NY in 1976, New Math opened for the likes of the Ramones, Pretenders, The Cramps, The Psychedelic Furs, The Damned, and The Gun Club at now-extinct local clubs. Offering up an endless supply of ascending guitar lines and catchy hooks of amphetamine-fueled power pop. With ease, the band produced charming, should've-been hits like the adrenaline rush of InchThe Restless Kind,Inch the two-tone English Beat-inspired InchOlder Women,Inch and of course the hyper-melodic anthem InchDie Trying.Inch The latter was produced by Howard Thompson, who was known for working with John Cale and the Psychedelic Furs. It was first released on Reliable Records in 1979 and then re-released on CBS in England with the same B-side InchAngela,Inch a take on '60s girl groups that juxtaposed it's innocent pop leaning with a tragic story. InchDie TryingInch did receive some airplay on John Peel's radio show and landed somewhere near the bottom of the British Charts. With a 7Inch on CBS in the UK (which now goes for a strong price on Discogs) and a debut EP on US indie tag 415 Records, the band rode the new wave. This collection of out-of-print early singles and unreleased demos showcases why they made fans both in the US and UK.1. Die Trying2. Johnny's On Top3. Angela4. Hot Sounds5. Take To The Night6.
