Q: I have a Nikon D5100. Looking to take shots of paintball action. What lens?
A: The 70-200 f4 is a great lens. In bright light, it focuses fast and accurately. depending on how close you want to be to the action, you might want more reach but with a DX sensor this gives you the equivalent of 300mm. The 70-300 is significantly slower focus and is a variable f-stop lens. This means the further you zoom, the less light is available to the sensor. Both are great lenses and I have shot birds in flight with both lenses so you can capture rapid action.

A: My 70-200 f4 is a much used lens. I'd use it on Safari for the close ups. But, I'd consider taking something longer too.
