I am a semi pro photographer ( I do paid shoots for weddings, portraits to supplement my day job income) (and because I love it) that reads, researches and inquires about photo gear. I was shooting with the excellent D7000, but have been hired to shoot a 350 guest wedding for a Nigerian friend that will be spectacular; I needed more bells, whistles, mega pixels and features than the D7000 offered. Within a week of purchasing this camera from Best Buy, my beautiful granddaughter came for a 2 week visit and then we went to Alaska for 2 weeks. In 4 weeks I shot 1500 pictures. I used just about every setting and feature it has to get what I wanted. My impression; phenomenal camera... I use a Nikon 18 - 200 mm (3.5 - 5.6) lense. Nikon is the king of being able to fine tune every imaginable setting. There are a bazillion of them in this camera, but right out of the box, you can use it, to take fantastic shots. Read the manual, use the info button on the back of the camera, don't be afraid to get out of AUTO and it will be phenomenal. It is pretty heavy with the lense I have, I use a padded shoulder strap that I love; the neck strap is not adequate. I like the locking selector buttons on the top; I accidentally changed settings when shooting on my D7000 that does not have that feature. Do the shots look better than my D7000? Yes!! They do. I love the dual card slots, the movies it takes, the info button (s) on the back, the feel of the camera, and how accessible everything is with your fingers while you are shooting. It took me several hours to set it exactly how I wanted it in the menu program, but now it does exactly what I want it to do every time. I stick a polarizing filter on the lense when I am shooting the San Fransisco Bay Area outside, and the skies are brilliant blue. It is not a camera I would take to Disneyland. It is too big and professional for just messing around and not thinking about it. I would use my iPhone or a good point and shoot for that. Anyways, I hope this helps. APS-C cameras are awesome, and this camera is the best Nikon has made. The WiFi feature is REALLY fun to use!!

Did lots of research before finally buying the D7200. Looked at Canons as well. Decided on this Nikon because of the dual card slots, improved buffer speeds, bracketing and time lapse capabilities, internal focusing motor, weather sealing, battery life, etc. I haven't used a true DSLR since film went away and there is a bit of a learning curve in order to fully utilize all that the D7200 has to offer. Of course lenses also play a major role in capturing good images, and I bought the Nikkor 35MM / 2.8 and the Nikkor 70-300MM / 4.5 lenses when I bought the camera body. Many people have vouched for the accompanying kit lens that you can buy as a package deal, but my choices of lenses were made based on the types of photography I like to do. In the near future I will also pick up a macro lens (Nikon refers to these as micro lenses). My first photos were shot a few days after purchase at my niece's wedding. I shot on auto using both lenses and was very pleased with the results. Ironically enough, the wedding photographer was using a Nikon D7100 and mentioned that she would like to upgrade to the D7200. I also took some landscape photos including some long exposures of waterfalls. These also came out great. Since then, I have used the telephoto lens to take some sports photos. By cranking up the ISO to 3200, I captured some amazing football shots at night under the lights. This camera has many features I am just starting to experiment with, but overall I will say I am completely satisfied with my purchase. I haven't messed with taking videos yet, though I did shoot one to make sure that feature was working and it looked fine (Canon usually gets the nod for video performance but I bought my camera for taking photos - the video capability is merely a bonus). One caveat: if you are using a point and shoot camera, you will find the D7200 much larger and heavier. Add on the 70-300MM zoom lens and you're talking even more weight. Nevertheless, if you are in the market for a great crop sensor camera, you can't go wrong with the D7200!

I have read a number of reviews online and decided to wait until the D7200 for my upgrade. Here is where this camera differs...I shoot video with with my DSLR and not having the ability to monitor what I was recording was a horror. Had to use an audio adapter to control the audio input. The D7200 has now come of age when it comes to shooting HD video. Not 4K yet which was a bit of a disappointment but beautiful 1080p, noticeably better than the D7000 which supposedly shoots the same 1080p. The auto white balance works better, focusing much faster and more accurate and the overall quality of my images and videos are noticeably better. What I would have loved to see on this camera was a tilting LCD screen which would have been great for shooting my videos, maybe next one or two upgrades from here. The thing I like about this camera is I don't have to relearn everything I had in my D7000. There are many new features and reading the manual will help you understand many. One last point. I was having problems shooting video because the auto focus would continue to refocus each time a subject would move. The made the video jumpy and annoying. As much as I tried I couldn't figure out how to turn that off and just have it focus when I depressed the shutter release button half way as is the case with my other camera. The fix was to hold down the focus/exposure lock button on the back top right of the camera as I was filming. Since it is close to where my thumb is it was not a bid deal. Once I focused on my subject and started to record, I simply held down the lock. I upgraded from a Nikon D3100 and could not be happier! When the Nikon D7000 came out, that is what I wanted, it had all the features that I dreamt of in a dslr, however at the time it was out of my price range, so I purchased the Nikon D3000. I soon tired of that because I could not do video. I gave that to my hubby and purchased the D3100 which I have been using for years and loved it, however when I saw the updated D7100 I lusted after that, still out of my price range, so I tried to be happy with my D3100 but it just did not have all the features my dream camera had. Finally in June I got an email from Best Buy on the new D7200, I was hooked, I had to have it! All the features of my previous dreams, but now with built in wifi. I love that I can control the camera with my iPhone and have the pictures automatically download to my phone for sharing. I can get creative pictures and edit them, then download them to my phone later if I prefer. I love having all the scene settings that are so easy to use and get wonderful pictures from. The two camera card slots are great and you can control what the 2nd card does. I have not used the U1 & U2 yet, as I am not sure what settings I want on those yet. There are so many features I have not had a chance to use yet and I can clearly see that this camera will keep me enthralled for many years to come! I purchased the DX AF VR 18-140mm lens to go with it, but would really love to have the 18-300mm, but that will have to be another day. Right now I am so happy with the camera itself and my 18-140mm that waiting will not be a problem. The D7200 also feels very comfortable in my hand, I had thought it may be a little cumbersome as I was used to the much smaller D3100, but the size has not been an issue as it fits my hand like a glove. I am totally in love!

This is Nikon's top of the DX line right now - great for beginners and experienced photographers who want something they can grow with. The quality of the images is fantastic. Key advantage over the d7100 for me was the higher buffer capacity and the built-in wifi/NFC. If you want the extra reach that a crop sensor will give you this is the best Nikon has to offer right now.

Upgraded from D5100 to D7200 and so glad I did. Much sharper and brilliantly colored pictures. Not too hard to figure out the settings and the menu settings. Fast continuous shototing. I was glad all my lens fit the D7200 as the camera is pricey but worth it. Have much to learn yet have only had it 3 or 4 weeks. Why no articulating LCD Nikon? Very pleased

Initially I planned for D7100 since I was getting best offers due to the latest release of D7200, but noticing few additional features I made up my mind for D7200. D7100 was voted the best camera and now D7200 with additional features like Increased ISO range, wireless connectivity and mainly a new Expeed 4 sensor/processor- stays top on the list for the best crop sensor camera. for in-details technical differences I would suggest you to visit DXOmark and dpreviews. For a first time DSLR user I would recommend camera with its kit lens(18-140mm) since you get best deals, I bought only D7200 body as I already have nikon 50mm 1.8 prime lens. But if you already have a DSLR and if you are planning to upgrade then I would recommend to buy prime or other lens,I recently ordered Sigma 17-70mm 2.8 from best buy , saw good reviews about this lens. Waiting for its arrival so I could use and post some reviews for the same. The reason I choose best buy - wide range of models, can have hands on experience before i buy, skilled employees in each area and best offers for best buy card holders and new customers too. Play with manual and aperture modes with D7200, I am sure you will be thrilled by the sharpness and clarity of the Pics, beautiful memories should stay with you. Combined with my Sigma 17-50 OS lens, this is one of the most sharpest DSLR Crop Senors cameras I have owned. Two thumbs up to Nikon on this DSLR Masterpiece! This is the best camera I ever bought. The autofocus is fast and the low lights for pictures are great. I also enjoy using the time lapse photography. It's an upgrade to my d7000 and the 1080p 60 fps videos are great!!!!

Excellent Camera for Details and Colors. Easy Use!

I had the Nikon 3200 and upgraded to the 7200 it worked great so I could take more and faster pictures as the motion of waves and birds tend to move quickly. I was able to use my existing lens from my 3200 with my new 7200. So now I have 2 cameras one for outdoor shooting and one for portraits.

I bought the camera as an upgrade to my D camera to go on an Alaskan Cruise! It was great, all I had to do was aim and shoot, the camera did the rest! I am no expert, and snapped over 2000 photos, but it is hard to figure out what ones to keep in an album and what ones to eliminate...

The last camera I bought was a Nikon D50 back in 2006. After it spent a few years in storage, I dug it out thinking it would be nice to get back out taking some pictures. A few hours on some photography websites quickly made it apparent I needed to catch up, technologically speaking. So I bought a D5500. Now don't get me wrong, the D5500 is a fine camera in its own right. Light, small, great image quality, sweet swiveling touchscreen. But, no weather sealing, polymer frame, no autofocus fine-tune, certain menus only available on the touchscreen.....I returned it for this D7200 (BTW Best Buy could not have made the exchange any easier). Now: this camera is a joy to use. Most of what you need is readily available via buttons/ command dials; other items can be assigned to the Fn button. You can also save settings to the U1 and U2 positions on the dial. Image quality is great. The viewfinder is quite a bit better than the D5500. To really get the most out of this thing, I would recommend two things: First, a book like Mastering the D7200 (by Darrell Young). The Dummies books are pretty good too. Second, find a comfortable spot to sit down and explore the menus and functions. Please don't just put it on Auto and head out the door. This camera can do so much more than that. If you are trying to decide between the two, I hope this helps a bit. I wasn't planning to spend a grand on a new camera (I bought body-only since I already had Nikon lenses), but it has certainly been worth the extra cost. Whatever you buy, enjoy it!

I've been wanting a D7000 since I bought my D3100 in 2011. I re-learned photography with it until a sensor went bad in 2014. In 2014 I bought a D5200 and was never really satisfied because I wanted a D7100 but couldn't afford it at that time. Finally, I was finally able to affoard a D7200 and I jumped on it. I love it. The picture quality is fantastic and it focuses really quick. The ability to shoot in almost dark conditions is fantastic. Get one you won't regret it.

This is a solid, surprisingly compact DSLR for the features. Great jpeg images straight out of the camera. Paired with a 35mm 1.8 lens this a good camera for walking around, family gatherings, etc. the only negative for me is it does not have an articulating LCD. With release of the D7500 the prices for this are sure to drop and it will be a great opportunity for those looking to upgrade to a more advanced DSLR.

I have the Nikon D70's and D7000. This camera is a great upgrade. The focus is fast and it takes sharp pictures. It's the best DSLR camera that I have ever bought.

I needed a reliable camera to take photos that is also capable of video and supporting different types of lens. I am very happy with the results taking photos, especially during my recent trip to Europe. The quality of the photos and ease to transfer them to my computer makes this an excellent purchase.

My Sony DSLR-A500 failed on me during an auction photography session. We were in the middle of cataloging and photographing an upcoming coin auction. So I called an auctioneer friend and he recommended the D7200. Went to Best Buy and talked with Tee in the camera department. He was a great help. Also picked up a couple lenses. Love this camera. A bit of a learning curve since I have used Sony's for the last 10 years. Now I may be a Nikon fan!

And here best buy did really well, walked into store, there was a dedicated section for DSLR cameras I was informed with all the features by Best buy blue rep, Since I have questions deciding between D7100 and D7200 as there were many offers on D7100 since D7200 has arrived but I settled with D7200 because of the benefits that were informed to me. Purchase went really smooth.Ha pay with the product. Wanted to give a true review so waited 1 yr and writing it today..you won't regret. Try with different lens picture quality is awesome .. yes its 24 MP!!. I am using Sigma 17-70mm 2.8 C lens and its awesome, Also this lens was purchase from BestBuy.
