About this product

Until recently, Bronsart von Schellendorf's career as a composer has been almost completely overlooked. But Liszt was aware of Bronsart's prowess, referring to his orchestral work Fruhlings-Fantasie as Inchbeautiful and invaluableInch and later declaring, InchI value him as a character and a musician.Inch Even a cursory listen to the Piano Concerto reveals a composer working in ambitious dimensions and an extrovert musical language. Rich in melodic and emotional content, Bronsart's piano writing gives ample opportunity for virtuoso display while delivering Bronsart's musical arguments with power and precision. Bronsart's good friend Hans von Bulow, another pupil of Liszt, had toured the work from 1870 onwards. He took the concerto abroad, giving a concert in Manchester under the baton of Charles Halle in 1877, by which time the work had secured a temporary foothold in the repertory.

Bulgarian National Radio Symphony Orchestra Vladigerov - Orchestral Songs - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

The present fifth volume of the Pancho Vladigerov Edition turns to an aspect of the composer's genre that many other composers have never or hardly touched Orchestral songs. It is perfectly plausible that Vladigerov found himself exposed to this genre during his formative years in Berlin and Vienna, having enjoyed it's heydays in those years he spent in those cities (Gustav Mahler, Richard Strauss, Hans Pfitzner, Joseph Marx and others). Notably, Vladigerov always worked off poems by Bulgarian writers, not only when dealing with Bulgarian folk songs. Like many other 20th century composers from a host of different countries and ethnicities, Vladigerov delved deeply into the folk songs and folk dances of his homeland. These are songs and dances - some are still popular today, others nearly forgotten - that various ethnic groups in the country have developed over centuries. In these arrangements, the composing side of Vladigerov finds the perfect synthesis with his pronouncedly Bulgarian side. Album Tracks 1. Bulgarian Folksongs for bass and orchestra, Op. 43~4. Dafina, Wine! 2. Bulgarian Folksongs for bass and orchestra, Op. 43~5. Early, Radka Went 3. Bulgarian Folksongs for bass and orchestra, Op. 42~2. Hey, Dimitro 4. Oliver Triendl - Kjell Flem: Piano Concerto; Cello Concerto - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

A student of Einar Englund and Einojuhani Rautavaara, Kjell Flem, born in Ålesund in 1943, has long been considered an international insider tip of the contemporary Scandinavian music scene. His compositions are traditionally non-radical, atmospherically unconstructed, and creates an ambience deeply rooted in the natural landscape of his homeland. His oeuvre is not extensive; rather, he allows himself a long creative period because, in his own words, truly magical moments of inspiration are rare. Album Tracks 1. Konzert FÜR Klavier Und Orchester (1992) = Concerto for Piano and Orchestra 2. Konzert FÜR Violoncello Und Orchester (2005) = Concerto for Cello and Orchestra
